What can I say, another insane weekend at www.breezewoodprovinggrounds.com !

Dan had the youth track hooked up....and Cody took advantage of the longer track and wasted no time in getting himself ready for monday race!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:20 PM
wvspeedfreaks's son, Austin, was ripping it up on his Kasea

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:24 PM
The boy flat tore that track apart....and his quad:eek2:

Without washing it, I know a list of things that are broken.

1...every motormount

2...every fender mount

3...an airfilter full of water ...not sure if it hurt the engine, but it kept him from competeing in the second moto of the Open 125cc Pitbike MONEY CLASS:huh

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:29 PM
Ive got tons of pictures....

from saturdays riding, to the unbelievable show Tom Fink and Randy Lehr put on!!

And todays kickazz pitbike race....including Cody throwing the smack down on the Open class:devil:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:38 PM
Today pitbike race went extremely well. A ton of riders showed up, and track owner Dan did everything he could to give them an event and track to want to return to.

There was not many mini quads, so Dan asked the Money class if they minded a kid racing with them on a quad...

Well, I think his exact words were..."I have a kid on a 90cc quad that is pretty sure he can whoop you all, do you mind if he races the money class":p

A lot of smirks and smiles happened when everyone chuckled and said sure...we will take the kids money:chinese:

I dont think they were smiling when he was battling them thru turn 1 for the lead:eek:

05-29-2006, 04:41 PM
hahah nice did cody win?

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:43 PM
Cody dove to the inside and was actual a wheel ahead and battling for the holeshot, but the pitbikes out accelerated him and he went into turn 2 in 3rd

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:44 PM
Cody was pushing hard...he wanted to be out front and was hanging right with the top 2 riders.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:47 PM
The fans were pretty much SCREAMING at Cody when they saw this kid out there hanging with some damn good pitbike riders. Some of the teams there travel the country racing and believe me,...EVERYONE knew that this was a full blown knock down race unfolding before them

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:49 PM
Cody was blazing the corners and making time, and as the top 2 started fighting for position, Cody knew it was time to pressure them

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:50 PM
When a double or larger jump was there, Cody would sail them and in every turn he was gaining on them

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:52 PM
For 2 or 3 laps, they remained almost exactly in order, and they started checking out on the rest of the field

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:53 PM
The back sweeper would allow the faster bikes to pull, but Cody would hammer that much harder out jumping and out braking them to keep them in check!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:55 PM
The bike riders were running hard, and started making small mistakes, and Cody knew it:devil:

05-29-2006, 04:55 PM
lookin good Kenny hope to get out there with you guys soon and take a few laps

Pappy
05-29-2006, 04:56 PM
A bobble on a double as the leaders made wheel contact was what cody needed to get in the hunt for the lead

05-29-2006, 04:58 PM
pappy...my wife is impressed with cody...all she could say was wow!!! she wanted to know cody's age?

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:01 PM
After I snapped that last picture, Cody was on the leaders like white on rice. He was charging inside in every turn and even made a banzia attempt to pass over a table, with him and the bike riders wheel to wheel in the air!!!!!

A last stab at 2nd place had him and the #2 rider racing out of a corner but even though the charge was hard, the faster bike won the day and Cody would have to settle for 3rd place.

It was an awesome sight to watch this race, after the first lap there were cheers and screaming from everyone as this race was the absolute best one of the day!!

Thanks to all the bike riders who allowed Cody to jump in and race with you guys, and thank you even more for the great words you had to say about him and his riding!

Cody is 12

They did have 2 other quads for a 90cc race, inwhich cody laid out an awesome run, hamming it up with look backs and some tricks over the big finish line tabletop. When he took the checkers for that moto, he pulled a killer arm pump that was caught on video and I will try and get it posted.

05-29-2006, 05:07 PM
Thats sick:cool: Looks like he can really turn up the heat on the riders.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:09 PM
A few riders went down hard, but thankfully noone was seriously injured

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:12 PM
Moto 2 wasnt nearly as good for anyone as the 1st

Before lining up, the bike riders chatted with Cody and checked out his pitbike with training wheels:p

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:14 PM
Bad starts had the class make 3 attempts at getting this moto underway.

Cody would battle them in the first turn and 2 of the 3 times came out with a bike tied for the holeshot

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:16 PM
This was expiernce that he needs...i did not care how he finished, but the chance to race with people as fast as he is was awesome.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:19 PM
Our luck ran out after the 3rd lap on moto 2. We had our fingers crossed his quad would stay together but it didnt.

He was only able to do 2 laps for moto 2 before a chain took him out of the race.

I snapped this as the rider laid her down coming through a sweeper

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:21 PM
I will come back to more pitbike action later, I really want to get these shots of saturdays excitement up.

Randy Lehr.....having a chat with a bike rider over the 80 footer:huh

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:23 PM
Randy and tom Fink showed up saturday, with a group of riders also coming in with Fink. It was a blast watching these guys rip it up

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:24 PM
Well over 100 riders were there on Sunday, and the place was packed with good riding everywhere you looked

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:26 PM
Fink is a good hearted feller....always smiling and always hauling ***:p

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:27 PM
I love getting shots of riders with style, and Tom doesnt disappoint

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:29 PM
After getting used to the layout, the boys turned it up a notch

(Getting used to meant 1 lap):p

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:31 PM
Tom...send me your address again and I will mail out a cd of your pics

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:32 PM
I dont think i will ever grow tired of taking pictures of MX

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:33 PM
Fink working the bugs out

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:34 PM
Lehr....getting ready to drop the hammer some good old fashion play racin'

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:36 PM
Tom letting her rip through a corner

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:37 PM
When Lehr caught Fink....it was on!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:38 PM
After a lap or two of them two going at it, just about everyone cleared the track and pulled over to watch

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:39 PM
Lehrs corner speed is insane. I actually have trouble getting good clear shots of this guy:D

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:42 PM
Cody watched every lap of those riders, and looks up to them like mentors.

Ofcourse he would rather spank them ...but I dont think Fink or Lehr would fit too good on a 90 anymore:D

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:46 PM
Breezewoods owner, Dan Harris, climbed off the water truck and geared up to see how fast these young bucks are.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:49 PM
Dan rode hard, but the power of the 450's and the skill of those boys were more then Dan could match on this day. No matter....seeing an owner of a place like this get out there and be active in our sport is incredible.

Hats off to ya Dan...you are running a kickazz'd track!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:50 PM
I only got 1 pic of Josh.

I had to run a swing arm home and weld it up and missed most of the day's riding when he was there

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:53 PM
I did manage to get a shot of Shala kicking rocks on Codys quad:eek:

Seems these two have a little grudge match on the track:D

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:56 PM
And my brother found out how hard you have to ride to stay infront of Fink (even though Tom was not pushing him too hard:devil: )

Tom...you actually scared him enough that he cleared the 90 footer....it only took your bumper on his exhaust to get him to do it:devil:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 05:58 PM
And I am pretty sure this was one of those....."Becareful or I will break my foot off in your rear end" speeches  :blah:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:00 PM
I have a crud load more pics....

but it is my turn in the shower and I am taking it:p

awsome pics pappy, it sucks i missed you up there. We got there at 10 on saturday morning and we left at 5. I was hoping you would of been there sometime before we left but i guess not. I had an awsome time and we are planning another trip up there for the weekend sometime soon. My dad enjoyed it and i loved it. Great facility and dan did a great job on watering the track and preparing everything out for us. Heres my fav pic of me my dad took.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:21 PM
Sorry I missed ya JRP, I saw you as we pulled in, but by the time i had the family and hauler squared away you were rolling out.

Gncc Stock class rider Shawn was up and had a great time

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:22 PM
I saw several quads I knew from the site, but did not have the time to catch everyone:(

i gotta ask how was your shower pappy?

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:24 PM
Randy was only able to get 5 or 6 laps in before his swing arm finally busted. Im not sure how much time he has on it....way more then enough thats for sure:p Luckily, I took it home and welded her up and he was back to flyin high in no time

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:28 PM
I bet if Randy did 1 lap...then he did atleast 80 without hardly a break in the afternoon.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:32 PM
I wish he could catch a break or two....

he has what it takes to run in the GNC Pro class, infact he beat Dunk and Brown a few weeks back at Sleepy Hollow.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:35 PM
I wish I could have snapped more pics saturday giys...I am sorry

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:37 PM
One of the riders who came with Fink had quad issues:( It was good to see him smiling....most folks would have been mad but he was cool.

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:38 PM
I sure know I am sunburnt:p It was HOT!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:40 PM
I went and found some shade as Lehr and Fink continued to rip it up

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:42 PM
When I am at this spot, I use a tree between me and the riders....

good thing too, as this banshee rider bobbled the landing and sailed off track heading for the tree's!!!!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:44 PM
The dust cleared quickly revealing a problem:eek:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:45 PM
I snapped one more picture before Pappy power lifted that big dude and his quad off his leg:D

Thankfully he was fine

Pappy

I had suggested a few changes to Dan a few weeks ago regarding the youth track, and he jumped right in and made this one killer track for the kids.

He would love to have more youth quads out there on Fathers Day for the night race!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:58 PM
The Fathers day race will be another pitbike race, and mini quads will be allowed again. The track is awesome, doubles, tables berms ....but forgiving for even the youngest riders.

Austin was clearing almost everything!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 06:59 PM
Austin clearing one of the new table tops

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:01 PM
Cody wants to know why there are not more youth quads out here racing....he thinks maybe your scared:devil: :blah:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:04 PM
Sunday evening, alot of the riders had settled down and the fast guys were about ready to hit the track for an all out battle:chinese:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:05 PM
Lehr and Fink are friends....and I knew this would be a clean kickazz play race that was sure to get everyone in the stands to watch

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:07 PM
Lehr was on the upper track when Fink came out

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:08 PM
Tom had followed Randy earlier in the day and had picked up a few of Randys tricks to get around this track

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:12 PM
I could see Randy up on the other track as Tom had put in about 3 laps. He came down and had no sooner taken his helmet off noticed that Tom was flat pounding the track....

The helmet was back on and he pulled down to wait for Tom

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:14 PM
People started running to the grandstands to get a birdseye view of these two competitors tear Breezewood a new one:D

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:15 PM
Fink was faster this time out, but Lehr will not give up and this turned into one heck of a race!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:17 PM
Lap after lap, Lehr would check Fink and Fink would block or pull out infront of Lehr

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:18 PM
Over every jump, through each turn....it was a battle

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:19 PM
I looked up in the stands at Randys dad...he just smiled and winked:devil:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:20 PM
Randy made a charge but couldnt make it stick

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:21 PM
It started getting intense to say the least

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:25 PM
Fink and Lehr charged to the 65 footer and Fink looked back to check Lehr....but Randy wasnt there:eek:

Randy had taken the smaller table that is an option at this track, thereby setting him up to get a better run at the corner, which he did taking the lead over Tom!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:36 PM
The next few laps Tom was on Randys grab bar, then I think Tom had had enough. I have no idea how Lehr rode as much and as fast as he did there. he went on to do 5 or 6 more laps alone before calling it a day.

Randy and Tom...thanks for the oppertunity to watch you guys kick it!

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:38 PM
I think this is "outtacontrol" here on the site. He can atest to the onslaught these guys laid down

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:40 PM
I actually used Randy as a teaser when Cody was hurting today. Cody's hands were covered in blisters from 3 days of hard riding, and he was almost in tears gearing up for the first moto today. I asked him if Randy would quit.....he slid his gloves on without a further word:cool:

Pappy
05-29-2006, 07:42 PM
I hope you all decide to make Breezewood a regular stop on your ride schedule, I know Dan and everyone else enjoyed you all being there!

hahaha, i need to convince my lil' sis to start riding quads!

i missed out this weekend because we had to go see her dance recidal (which i dont mind at all)

but i think it would be cool if she were ripping up the track, and not the dance floor for once haha

And for spoiling me by letting me ride the yfz.. I know see the light lol.. :o

Some of the pitbikes there were insane. i learned alot chatting with them

Pappy
05-29-2006, 08:17 PM
The competition was tight in alot of the classes

Pappy
05-29-2006, 08:19 PM

i can defintly attest to the speed of randy and tom, i now know what the lappers feel like when ricky and bubba blow past them. i swear randy never let off the throttle around that track. his corner speed was unreal! sure made it fun to watch. Great photos!

Pappy

Haha! Notice the front end is down from the last ride? Dan sent me a quick e-mail telling me why I was having trouble keeping the front end down on this jump.

For those interested...basically I wasn't carrying enough speed out of the turn to clear the jump so I was still building up speed all the way to the end of the lip just so I would clear the jump..basically I was jumping under too much power. Now, I down shift to 3rd before going into the turn and carry way more speed coming out of the turn so I can just maintain speed. This then sets me up for the tabletop by the bleachers so I can easily clear it now too. Before, I was wasting time down shifting before the bleacher tabletop. Sometime I would downshift in the air before landing but too often I was too busy trying to get the front-end down to worry about downshifting. Thanks again Dan!

For those dads and moms who are only watching the kids ride, I can only encourage you to get on a bike or quad. I didn't start riding until I was 36. My only previous experience was on a Yamaha 80 enduro bike for the 3 summer months between 7th and 8th grades. I've only been riding on a track since October (spent 5 years trail riding only). Even Connie is doing great. After only several months of riding on a track, she is clearing everything on the Kid's track so we moved to the Upper Track. She is clearing several of those tabletop jumps too.

I was in the pond Sunday afternoon but I am guessing someone else must have been too because nobody was around me when I went over the hill. I spun out on the turn near the two steel tanks. One thing about trail riding is it gives you plenty of experience for handling the terrain if you ever go off course. ;)

I stayed far out of the way of Fink and Lehr. I was hoping to see these guys busting some tricks but they were way too busy just being fast. I would love to watch Dan, Fink, and Lehr all line up on equivalent quads. I was just glad everyone recognized the show that was being put on and got off the track to watch and not create any bottlenecks.

Once again, Pappy got some great shots and did a great job capturing the excitement in each of his captions.

yeah it was cool to watch them go at it. Randy was telling us a little while ago he beat Jason Dunkelberger at a track over in east pa. i believe it after seein him ride. last time i was at the track i liked the amatuer track, but this time i really liked the expert one, a lot more flowing and bigger jumps. That uphill section was getting brutal by sunday night with the ruts forming! When is the next big trip planned for BPG?

I'd go into the bowl turn 2nd or 3rd wfo then just hammer up the hill, the front end would come up and the back end would swap from side to side it was fun as hell

Just wanted to say thanks to Dan, Amanda, Mike and the rest of the Breeeewood crew for all the hard work they put in to making this weekend such a blast! The tracks were in awesome shape as usual and all of the events they hosted were great fun to watch. As for Lehr and Fink, all I can say is, MAN THOSE GUYS CAN HAUL!! Definately motivational watching them tear it up! Pappy, thanks for all the great pics. It was nice to finally meet the man behind the camera. Take care everyone...

The next big event at Breezewood is during the Fathers Day weekend. The usual riding will take place, but saturday night, big stadium lights will turn the youth track into an outdoor night time pitbike race!

I made another thread about a member of this site and of Breezewood who died friday getting ready to come to breezewood this weekend.

For those that knew him, his name was Jody Crum. He loved breezewood and couldnt say enough good things about the facility, the riders and ofcourse Dan and Amanda.

Keep him in your thoughts and prayers, he will be missed.

awesome pic's.. wish I coulda been there, but I was there for the first time the previous week and like everyone knows the place definatly rocks!!! fathers day the next one and wouldn't you know it that's the weekend I rented a house in atlantic city  guess I'll have to make the next one after that again. I definatly would like to ride with all you guy's as I'm on this site EVERYDAY so i feel like I kinda know everyone in a way:ermm: It took me almost 6and 1/2 hrs to get there so it's a pretty far ride to say the least. but to ride at a place like this it's worth it. just bought a new trx and I'm hoping to have er all hooked up by time i get there again. and to you quad2extreme I also didn't start riding quad's till I was 35(always had sportsbikes) and everytime i ride it takes till the next ride to get the smile off my face...cyas at breezewood :macho

mole97.....

July 4th is the next big event after Fathers Day....

I think thats another reason I like breezewood. They always have something going on. Not too mention volleyball, horseshoes, good food and drinks when ya need them, showers to get the grime off, they really do go out of thier way to try and make everyone feel at home.

I had a blast at Breezewood Proving Grounds. It is one of my favorite tracks to go practice and ride. It was really fun racing the pitbikes and other 90 quad riders. The pitbike race gave me expierence on passing and battling with others.

The first moto was awesome, I got a great start and the top two riders and I pulled ahead and were cruising. The second moto sucked, I really wanted to go for a win infront of everyone, but mechanical issues took me out. I will be sure to settle the score at the next race if they will allow me back in to race with them.

I really like the new youth track, they offer a little bit more of a challenge. The two new tabletops are really fun.

Randy and Fink were fast and exciting to watch. They definatley have skill and talent.

See everyone soon!

Thanks for the great pics, and all the nice comments.
Especially a big "THANK YOU" for saving the day and welding Randy's swing arm up so that he could ride. Even though Randy did get to ride Kevin's quad while we were fixing the swing arm, it's not the same when it's not his quad. Randy loves to ride and it shows when he's out on the track tearing it up.
Randy had a great time and we are sure to come back again and will bring lots of other riders. Breezewood is a great track and when we pulled into the driveway the sign said "We Love Quads"
I don't think that I ever saw a welcome like that anywhere else that we've been before. We need more places like this that actually want quads, instead of treating us quads like second class like some of the other tracks that I won't mention.
Dan
Great track. Thank You, your wife and the crew at your track. If you continue to treat the riders as good as you do the track will be the best around. I will spread the good word and will tell everyone to go to Breezewood.
Thanks everyone
Chuck Lehr (Randy's dad ):)

Awesome pics everyone. I was up there Sunday with my brother. I wasn't riding (both the quad and I weren't in the best shape after a XC race the day before). I still had an awesome time watching, it amazes me to watch some of those guys tear up an mx track. It's also nice to see those kids out there pushing it to the limits. They say pitbike racers have to carry alot of attitude to make up for racing a pitbike.....

Well, can you hang or will you just read about the next race like your doing this one:bandit:

I'd like to thank all the riders who came out to celebrate their memorial day weekend with us at the Proving Grounds. I'd also like to thank Pappy and Kevin for all their help, both in advertising the events and in being here getting things ready. Thanks to all the people who helped out to make the pit bike races such a success: the starting line guy - Dan, also known as hip hop. thanks to Jamie who was lining the racers up at the staging area, Kevin Hill for Lining 'em up at the start. Big Jon Kelly who worked the whole back half of the track with the flag. All the kids who sold raffle tickets, everyone else who flagged, helped fallen riders, picked up rocks etc...

The Games on Saturday were awesome and would not of been if it weren't for the generous donations from RIDERSVILLE CYCLES in Berkley Spring West Virginia, SHANANDOAH HONDA of Winchester VA, and JUNIATA RECREATION of Bedford PA. And a special thanks to all the volunteers who helped out to make the games flow smoothly.

I have to thank my entire staff who are also my great friends and family. This weekend was a great success and alot of fun for everyone. Everyone that visits the park comments on the atmosphere here and that comes from the friendly staff and all the great riders and members that pitch in to make every weekend a great riding adventure. I look forward to riding with everyone again soon.

Dan....

let me know if you need a starting gate built. I will get started on it. Poor "Hip Hop" had to be sore, I bet he was sunburnt to all get out, and he pulled that bungee enough I know his arms were wore out:p

I missed the games on saturday....but saw a bunch of haybales. Did anyone get any pics?

Really sorry to hear that, I like to trust everyone and think the best. I know I sent alot of guys into my open garage this weekend to borrow parts off of my pit bikes and to use my tools. When I checked Tuesday all my parts were returned and as far as I could tell all my tools were there. I like to think were all a close community and would not do anything to intentionally hurt one another. Thats the reason I'm so generous in lending out tools and parts and whatever anyone needs while they are here.

.............at the same time if we ever caught anyone stealing from us or our riders, well they would quickly find out why this place is called the "Proving Grounds". I definately will not tolerate any bad apples in the bunch trying to spoil our fun.

Sorry about your cap, If anyone may have seen anything that might help find out who or what happened I'd appreciate it.
