Blountville, TN – Two weeks ago, the weather was cold and rainy in Michigan for the Red Bud National, but the conditions at Muddy Creek in Tennessee are almost the complete opposite with beautiful blue skies and temperatures in the 80’s, which have triggered a few thunderstorms Thursday and Friday evening, but the weather is forecasted to be hot and dry the remainder of the weekend.

The weekend of festivities kicked off at Atlas Cycle in Bristol, VA with Suzuki Pro Riders, Jeremiah Jones and Jason Dunkelberger, showing up to sign autographs for an Open House at the dealership with hundreds of guest showing up for the event.

The big attraction for many of those attending was the chance to win a brand new LT-Z250, and you had to be present to win with Jeremiah Jones drawing the ticket for one lucky person.

This lucky winner took home himself a brand new Suzuki LTZ-250.

Back at the track, the Victory Sports crew were busy watering down the the track Thursday night before mother nature provided its own final touch of rain, which had the track in perfect condition for practice after the first few groups of riders roosted most of the mud off the track.

The ATV Mobile Medical finally has its Yamaha Rhino in action at the track to help riders that are injured on the track, and a big thanks goes out to all of those that donated to the cause through drawings and fund raisers. Also, none of this could have been possible if it weren’t for the dedication of Debbie Bartosek and Jody Bateman, and they have personally financed the balance for the mobile medical unit until enough funds are raised to cover all the expenses.

In an effort to raise additional funds, a benefit auction will be held at Muddy Creek this weekend with items donated by the racers and participating companies, so be sure to help out with this great program for the safety of the racers.

The auction will take place at 1:15PM in front of the Mobile Medical Unit Trailer.

I think that I found the secret to Jeremiah Jones recent success on the Suzuki LT-R450 when I noticed Ryan’s mechanic with a strange assembly of items on his work table. The Motul Brake Cleaner and Chain Lube made since, but the barbeque sauce and strawberry spread seemed out of place to me, which sent Ryan scrambling to cover up there secret combination which was obvious by the expression on his face.

Admin
05-27-2006, 08:46 PM
He knew that the secret was now out with the flash of my camera, so he played along to cover it up, but we all know better, lol.

Tireballs, Wade Summers, was busy as ever this weekend as more and more motocross riders realize the benefits of Tireballs for more than just flat tire prevention as they also help absorb some of the bumps and provide even more traction than standard air filled tires, which has attracted John Natalie Jr, Dustin Wimmer, Harold Goodman, Keith Little, Joe Byrd, and Doug Gust to start racing with Tireballs, and the list has been growing all season.

When I headed down to the track, the Youth Production class was tearing up the track, and these young talents can’t be under estimated because they are some extremely talented riders and a blast to watch.

Daniel Cooper didn’t have a problem with styling it for the camera

Robert Mazey was flying around the track and focused on picking the best line ahead.

Admin
05-27-2006, 09:06 PM
Shawn Wiebelt looked more like a Pro than a Youth Production rider over this large double as these young riders will surely be a force to deal with once they turn 16 move on to fullsize ATVs.

Team Suzuki/Yoshimura’s Doug Gust was out ripping it up on his Suzuki LT-R450 in hopes of returning the Podium this weekend.

Check out the Yoshimura Kick Starter on his race machine, which should be available to the public very soon.

The Canadian Greg Gee joined the Pros during practice on Friday, but he would later sign up for Pro Am Unlimited and Production along with an A Class.

Travis Spader looked at home this weekend a Muddy Creek, but he did completely cover me up in roost when I wasn't looking.

Admin
05-27-2006, 09:28 PM
Dustin Wimmer claimed his first Podium finish of the year at Birch Creek, and he was once again on fire this past weekend at the WPSA ATV Tour with two Heat wins, and he seemed to have his Honda dialed in during practice.

As everything was wrapping up, the rain clouds began to move in and they packed a punch with heavy rain and hail in surrounding counties.

Admin
05-27-2006, 09:38 PM
After a few quick downpours, the rain moved out with left the once active vendors row a ghost town till Saturday morning.

Saturday Morning, the Women's Production riders sat and waited in the shade for the start of their race, and they were joined this weekend by Melissa Kufel (right) making her return to ATV racing after taking the past couple of years off.

Jamie Jones(center) also is back to racing fulltime, and Heather Byrd(left) is currently leading the points over Angela Butler.

Admin
05-27-2006, 09:47 PM
While the ladies waited, Clay Holmes launched his Joe Byrd Racing School Honda out of the starting gate for the first Moto of the Pro Am Production Class.

Admin
05-27-2006, 09:54 PM
Clay Holmes went on to take the win, but not without plenty of pressure from Josh Upperman.

Admin
05-27-2006, 09:59 PM
Trent Kandel didn't have any luck today, but he gained some cross country hill climbing experience when he slide off the side of the track on an almost vertical bank, which brought him to a stop only a few feet from returning to the race.

Admin
05-27-2006, 10:02 PM
Once the Women’s Production Class his the track, it was Heather Byrd with the Holeshot and bobble threw the whoops, which left Angela Butler almost kissing her front bumper allowed Byrd to pull away and claim the 1st Moto win followed by Angela Butler and Michelle Reiser.

Admin
05-27-2006, 10:06 PM
Michelle Reiser was sporting her new “Pink” ATVriders.com stickers this weekend ,which were hand delivered to the track by Matt J. Shapaka from UpDog Industries.

Melissa Kufel was able to hold off Jamie Jones to finish in 4th Place

Admin
05-27-2006, 10:10 PM
In Women's Sport, Candace Lee grabbed the Holeshot, but her lead would be short lived as Adrinne Cooper would make the pass and take over the lead.

Admin
05-27-2006, 10:13 PM
Adrinne would pull away from the pack until her YFZ450 would come to a stop because it ran out of gas, but fortunately she figured out the problem before it was too late and switched it to reserve to finish the race in third.

Admin
05-27-2006, 10:15 PM
Jessica Doherty would take over the lead and the win followed by Briann Stout with Candace Lee having an off race and finishing back in 4th place behind Adrinne

Admin
05-27-2006, 10:22 PM
The 50cc Class (4-6) had Mike Gleason grabbing the Holeshot followed by Jeffrey B. Dodson and this pair ran away from the rest of the field as they battled for the lead.

Admin
05-27-2006, 10:27 PM
Jay Derosa passed his way into the lead in the Vet Class, but him and second place rider tangled after the first lap, which dropped the pair back to last place, which had Derosa slighty upset, but he was able to work his way back up to 9th by the end of the race with Brian Giles taking the win.

The race coverage will continue on Sunday, and I have uploaded an Amateur Photo Gallery along with the results from Saturday, so click the link below.

***Also, it would be great if someone could volunteer to help out with posting updates during the Live Coverage on Sunday during the Pro Races. Otherwise, I will only be able to post results after each Moto since I don't have anyone to help with Live Coverage.***

If you can help out, send me a PM. Until Sunday, Good Nite!!

What happend to Tavis Cain?

LAWLESS23
05-30-2006, 07:11 AM
I believe that Cain (and the whole Duncan team)
Arno Jr.
Luburgh...........and others are all skipping the Nationals for the rest of the year. They are all going to pursue the WPSA tour/series (ESPN) instead. If you have read other columns, you will see how fed up a lot of the riders are with the "Nationals" series.

Yamahauler_04
05-30-2006, 12:25 PM
Yup. They aren't riding any more Nationals this year.

Warnerade
05-30-2006, 05:33 PM
I dont think it is right for the whole team to just "abandon" the GNC circuit...true, they can be fed up with it...but why not just finish out the season and not come back next year?

Oh well though

Yamahauler_04
05-30-2006, 05:36 PM
Because it costs thousands to run the series. Just in gas and plane fares.

A lot of money to make a statement.

Only a couple of guys there are getting good money.

Warnerade
05-30-2006, 06:19 PM
i wouldnt call finishing out the series making a statement...those guys have been doing the series for years now, and they are still doing the wpsa..i think they can pocket the extra cash to finish the GNC's.

just my opinion though, i just dont like leaving things un-finished once its started.

From those in the know, it was just too much money. The ATVA doesn't pay out well. Especally if you have to fly out to the race.

If you aren't the top three guys, you spend a lot to race.

Most of those guys aren't really even breaking even on their racing.

Warnerade
05-31-2006, 04:22 PM
I am fully aware of those things..but, like i said..i'm just a firm beleive in finishing something i start....its jsut my opinion, thats all

No worries.

I fully understand you.

Especially when sponsors are involved. They expect the full season.

What kind of a race would it be if your heart wasn't in it, though? Going through the motions doesn't cut it when it's that much money to run a series......what a waste......might as well ride where it's FUN to ride, and where you will put out the most effort.......

Just mye .02.....
