I rode a blaster that some guy put a kx250 motor in once. I will repeat once! Too scary for me man. The blaster was not made for any more power than it already has! It's too short and top heavy. Not to mention they look like crap! Don't do it man! Get the real deal and buy yourself a TRX250R! You will have no regrets, whatever the cost!

they are located all over US i live in georgia unless i found one that they would let me finance through ebay and pay for it like that it would be no problem.

hes right guys, in parts of the US seeing a 250R is frickin rare. i live in a town of about 30,000 , i know pretty much everyone that rides in this town, theres a grand total of 4 R's in town and ones mine ones my dads. theres an R engine in a drag frame in gigot's shop, they help test and tune the sabertooth cylinders. not to mention an R is almost worthless here. (its how old? its only a 250? ill give you 500$ for it)

all watercooled trikes use the same engine as the trx's.

yur gunna have better luck building one then buyin one outright.

dont put an r motor in a blaster frame.

I would say start on a frame and be prepared to spend a crapload of money because ebay is where you will find a lot of parts and you'll be competing with others for them.

But definitely start with a frame. I started the opposite and have almost all my parts except a frame so what can I do right. I can't even start putting it together.

EBAY

250Renvy thats the some way I started and this is my project R.
All the part i took off the red R I saved and then i got a frame.

http://www.bikepics.com/pics/pics/bikepics-597882.jpg

There are alot of R parts out there BUT there is alot of pps that want them because some parts are getting hard to find or they stoped makeing them. I say if you want to built one find urself a good frame. rubber's and mounts are going to be hard to find .

Check all forums and for the last time I'm going to say it ...
EBAY:blah:

The project in the pic uses an '86 ATC250R motor. The frame is my old '86 frame and the rest of the parts came from Ebay:D . We should have this one complete before July 4th. Hopefully my parts that are lost on the mail will arrive this week.

does anyone have a price of much it will cost to build one and how much does a lonestar frame usually go for.

And if i got a 250r frame can i just put a atc250r motor in it without custom fabrication just bolt in.

The ATC motor fits into the TRX frame with no problems. Used aftermarket frames will cost anywhere from $600 to $1500 depending on it's type, usage and the seller. I have about $5k into my Arens 250R but it has a lot of aftermarket parts.

I found lots of parts but after i get the frame which should be next i dont want to wait and then the rare parts go for cheap and i cant find them anymore.

well a rare part would be the stuff they dont make any more, so i would put some cash to the side and leave it for when a part you need pops up, and use the rest to get stuff you can always get.

I have a whole seat with brand new denton racing cover for sale if your intrested. also a steering stem, bars, foot pegs and other stuff. let me know if you need anything i have stuff for sale.

how much for stem and bars would you trade for banshee wheels and swingarm with linkage.

I wouldn't worry about not being able to find rare parts. Most of the parts that would be rare are OEM parts that you would only need if you were doing a restoration. The only parts really that I have found to be trouble finding were the upper seat latch for an 86/87 seat pan. The 88/89 seat pans have the upper mount built into the seat pan. And the other thing is there is a collar or something that goes in the stock rear shock. All the other parts I didn't have any trouble finding. Most parts especialy aftermarket parts are very redily avalible. My biggest piece of advice for when you build your quad is take your time. Buy new parts when you can, and buy only from people that you know you can trust. Another thing that you will find is the small stuff will cost you alot, but is worth it in the long run. I have atleast 3-400 dollars into a bolt kit, gromets, spacers, bushings, and berrings. But it was a well worth 3-400 dollars. It's the little things like those that make a quad feel new again.

The crack can be fixed easily enough. 305 bucks for a stock frame if it's in good condition is still a good deal, and if you get a swingarm with it, thats just all the better.

so i should go with the frame with the swingarm.

What tab are you talking about that the 300 dollar frame is missing? And what years are the frames, and what condition are the frames in. Do you have any pics of them?

atownswhizkid

1987 for the ub front missing tab frame and the other he didnt tell me which one does it matter are they stronger or something.

TheFontMaster
05-29-2006, 08:34 PM
The 88/89 frames are stronger because of the areas that the factory gussets are in. The geometry of the 88/89 frames are also usualy the prefered geometry. But whatever year frame you get is good. Do you have pics of the 2 frames?
