Actually this is the flag that was used by the confederacy in the first years of the war. The "Stars and Bars" was only used as a battle flag, that flag was never used by the confederate gov. at any point during the Civil War.

He is indeed right about the start of the war having nothing to do with slavery. Lincoln didn't issue the Emancipation Proclamation until Jan. 1, 1863. (war started in 1861) Also the south fired the first shot of the war, not the north in an attempt to end slavery. The original reason for fighting was to preserve the Union and to keep the south from succeeding from the Union. People in American and especially the north are taught that the Civil War was over slavery and this is a misconception of what really happened. Another funny thing to point out is how the North had to impliment a draft to get more soldiers after Lincoln added abolishing slavery to a cause for the war. So if anyone reads this or would like to research it to prove that my point is valid, just don't go on talking about how the Civil War was over slavery because it WASN"T.

Southerners had the brute force, and Northerners had the numbers and raw materials. Usually that's how wars are won, country/group that has the most raw materials. Another example of this, WWI and WWII. Allied Powers had the raw materials and Axis had the brute force.

And to finish this off, can't we all just happy? :confused:
