clutch perch dust boot necessary?

Is it really needed? I tend to hit a lot of mud where I ride and I am a little worried. I just ordered an aftermarket clutch perch and it does not come with a boot. What do you think?

i run them...i use cr250 boots. and you are correct, mud will ruin your day if it gets in that cable...i know:p

Thats cool I knew I needed one and didnt understand why my high dollar new clutch perch didnt come with one. Thanks for your help pappy!
