View Full Version : OOO no, can i fix this

I have a 400 ex and was doin the regular oil and oil filter change. I acidentily tightned my left screw on my oil filter to tight and it broke off. So now half of the bolt is still in there and half is not. Wat can i do, plz tell me i didnt just completly screw it up.

it is like lined up at the very end.

I've noticed this happening alot. Make sure you use a torque wrench. most are 6-7lbs

I don't think it 6 or 7 lbs of torque for those bolts, I've tried that and my broke once also. I think it's more like 6 or 7 inch lbs. I'm not too sure thou. I just tried to find it on my computer but I can't seem to find it right now.

If that doesnt work....ever heard of an EZ-out? I dont know if that would work because it is so tight but you could try it...

it may of been tight when it broke but it wont be that tight now that the oil filter cover isnt there pushing on it... after it broke it lost probly all of the tension on the threads... congrats on getting that bad boy out of there:macho
