well it kinda all depends on what you want. a 250ex has an electric start, auto clutch, and a drive shaft. its not as fast as the blaster but will probably have more low end because its a 4-stroke. the blaster has a manual clutch, kick start, and is a 2-stoke. the blaster will have more top end and would probably do pretty good on the trails. i think the 250ex would be better cause its a 4-stroke and would be low maintence also because of the drive shaft. its all really in what you personally want. you should ride them both and see wich once fits you better and that is the one you should get.

I would say just get a 300ex cause there pretty fast and i think they are hands down the best trail quad, and compared to the ole blaster are alot easier to keep running and are 10 times more reliable. thats my 2 cents:macho

i agree:D , but if u do choose between those get the 250ex cause blasters suck ***, suspension is horrible and the just suck

I say if your going to be spending the money that you are just for a 250ex I say go ahead & spend a tad bit more & atleast get a 300ex. Just my 2 cents.

I strongly agree b/c after owning the 250 for awhile you will def want some bigger....somin with more power and suspension. Plus if you ride with anybody who has a bigger quad than you do its not fun tryin to keep up....trust me I know.

i agree with these guys on the 300. i rode my dads and now i want one. but he wont let me get a used one. he says it will just be a piece of crap. but i do think you should spend the money on a 300.

get the 300, I had a blaster and I thought it was a pos and kept it in good shape and didn't waste money on mods and moved up to 400ex. 250ex, little resale and not much for mods and would be basicly wasting your money trying to mod it anyways. Go with a 300ex.

find a used 400ex, you can get a used 1999 400ex for $3200 fairly easy.
I have a 300ex, and I work on it more than ride it. It's got it's problems.
A blaster is quicker & faster than both the 250ex and 300ex, but its more of a racer type quad and not really meant for the trails.

hondaextreme, 2-strokes aren't weak on the bottom, they just dont have torque. I can easily kill a 400ex off the line with my 250R (and just walk away).

super_man,
I was in your same position about 3 years ago. I had my money all saved up and I wanted a blaster, but my dad made me get a 300ex (cuz its a 4-stroke). If you can get a 400ex, DO IT! If you buy a 300ex or any "SPORT" quad, you will loose money (alot of money!). But If you start with a high performance quad, you can spend any extra money on mods (instead of having a sport quad and saving to get a 400ex)

if those are your only choices, DEFINITELY get a 250ex. get a procircuit t-4 exhaust complete system and rejet for a incredible difference across the entire power band, especially low and mid-range. blasters suck on the trails. my friend has a decked-out blaster and is probably a better rider and he still cant keep up with me on the 250ex when it comes to trails. it's a fun little quad.
