Get the EHS lid. Its worth the $. I race XC and have never sucked in any water since I put on the EHS lid.

I got the outerwears lid cover over HRC lid and I never sucked water in and I cross water ways up to the air box. No need to waste your money on EHS. And if you wanted you can take your old lid cut it and make the same as the ehs lid with outerwears and Alm strips from Lowes/Homedepot for under $30.

or you can buy another stock lid ($7 at service honda) and cut the back portion out, just like the hrc lid. the stock lid even has a groove to follow, while cutting. and, also has the bolt holes for bolting the mud flap to the lid.

I agree with 400exracer. Go with the EHS lid. Great ppl to deal with and they guarantee everything. If there is a problem, just send it back and they'll fix it or give you a new one. Great product.

i used good old DUCT TAPE and went from the inside of the box to the fender and never get any water or much dirt in the filter. just my little trick:devil:

911, good idea. May have to try that.

bwilson624, is EHS going to replace your engine, if there's a problem with the lid, which causes engine failure?

I run a k&n with outerwear and love it. Never had any problems. I ran no lid for a long time until recently, and thats just because i got a cfm box and it runs a little lean with the lid off.

No, I don't ride mx or xc. I ride fast trails, slow trails, some sand, and anything else around my area i can get on, and there are a few local tracks i ride on but nothing organized.

have you ridden in any extremely muddy conditions with no lid?

I have ran mud, sand, snow, crossed creeks, and everything in between with no lid. Outerwears are awesome at keeping the filter and everything beyond that clean. The water scared me but if you use spray water repellent on it, no worries. I have never had a problem, except that its a pain to wash the mud off sometimes.:)

I left mine on but it was a little small for the whole on the cfm box so its a little stretched and is partially open all the time.
