Trying to replace bearings in a Lonestar carrier. I'm trying to do it here at work, so the oven trick isn't gonna work. Can I heat it up with a torch and press both bearings and spacer tube out all at once, or do the bearings come out seperately?

There is a lip inside the carrier so no you can't press it all out one side. You have to press each bearing out the side it is installed on which can be tricky. If you heat it up with a torch they make just fall out

If there's a lip on the inside of the carrier, how's the spacer tube come out?

The tube is only the size of the inner race the lip just hits the outer race. So when you remove one of the bearings the spacer slides out that side.

10-4. I guess I'm about to bite the bullet and stick it in the company oven.

I was just replacing the bearings on my carrier. I fought with it for a good hour. Then called up colby. After talking to him I used a long punch and hammared the first bearing out which was a pita. Then the 2nd bearing I pressed out because the 1st one wasent in the way. IF that makes any scence.

What did you use to press the other bearing out? I stuck it in the oven and the first one popped right out, however, I tried knocking the other bearing out and it grenaded. So all I have in there now is an outer race that won't come out. I've tried everything, a punch won't drive it out, and I can't get anything to grab onto the race so I can press it out. I'm this close (holds up two fingers) to breaking out the die grinder and going to town.

put it back in the oven and then try to punch it out. it could have cooled enough for that side to want to stick in there. or you may have not got it hot enough....

if you have a puller you could probly come up with a way to pull it out. If you dont have one I think autozone rents them.

I JUST REMOVED MY BEARING OUT OF MY CARRIER TODAY.
FIRST REMOVED BOTH OUTER SEALS.
THENTAKE A TORCH AND HEAT UP THE CARRIER A LITTLE BIT.THEN SHAKE THE BEARING OUT,IT WILL POP RIGHT OUT.DO THE SAME ON THE OHTER SIDE.VERY EASY.IPUT THE NEW BEARING IN THE FREEZER.AND THEY TAPP RIGHT ON IN.THATS THE EASIEST WAY FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALL BEARINGS.
