it's a mild R standard bore just completely rebuilt my problem is after half throttle the plug comes out white I have gone as far as putting putting a 235 main in and it still runs lean the needle is raised as far as it can go is their a different taper needle that someone recomends it has a Keihn pwk 38 on it with the stock honda needle any throttle position under half the plug comes out a nice tan it's only above half to full throttle, but even with a 235 main and the needle raised all the way the quad rips it has no flat spots at all I know it dhould have around a 180 main I have been fighting this problem for 2 weeks please help

did you just put the carb on there or have you had it on there even before the rebuild? It sounds like it may possibly need to be rebuilt. Because you're right it should use about a 180 jet.

i had a stock needl in a 39mm carb and it was too lean in the midrange. my engine builder is sending me a DGH to try sometime soon.

Did you do a leak down test? If your sucking air, maybe its only when the motor is in high rpm, that you have a seal leaking air? Just wondered if maybe that would be a sign?

Try a DGH needle.
