On the 400EX with the settings from the factory what weight would that be good for? Im not really sure if i should adjust them or not. Im 220lbs if that helps. So what adjustments should i make if any?

2nd to stiffest setting should do ya..;)

2nd to stiffest on front and rear and leave everything else? How do i do that and what tools do i need?

you'll need a spanner wrench or a hammer and a flat screw driver. i'm a 220lbs rider and i've left my fronts as is. haven't had any probs. i adjusted the rebound on the rear to soften it up a bit.
