This has been posted in the powertrain section as well, but figured I would possibly get more response here..I have the quad in my sig and just changed out the front sprocket, but am running into problems..I went from a 14 tooth to a 12 tooth and now the chain rubs on the motor really bad (right behind the sprocket) when the front sprocket turns..Is this too small of a sprocket?? Do I need a thinner chain?? what size should I or could I use?? Right now I have a DID Xring 520ATV chain and it seems if I had a thinner chain this would cure the problem..I might be able to go to a 13 tooth, but I want alot more bottom end then the 14 tooth offered and I dont know if it will still rub or not....What does the 520 in the chain mean?? Also how many link chains are people running on their YZ hybrid quads with extended swingarms?? Also what size front and rear sprockets are people running on these hybrids as well..Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated..

How bad is it rubbing??
Would it be possible to space the sprocket out?
Using the minium of thin shims (washers)to slip over the counter shaft.
Hope that helps.

Not gonna work..The rear would eat into the chain guide..

Its rubbing pretty bad..What size chain (how many links) do you run with your extended swingarms?? Also what size front sprockets do you run??

This is on Ebay for a CRF450 but may also work for your YZ application as well, its a 1mm spacer for o-ring chains that slips over the countershaft.

just go to ebay and search "CRF450 fastway" and it will bring up a list of parts and just scroll down a little bit. I think there pretty cheap like $1.44

I tried running a 13 on the front but it just chewed in to my chain guide so much that after about 1/2 or probly less than a season I would have to replace it. I'am running a 14/38 and 1st gear is still a little tall so I'am thinking about a 40 on the rear.

I noiced that the 14 and possibly the 13 would tear into my chain guide and thats why I went with 12, but the biggest size they have for the rear sprocket is a 39..but I dont know if a 14/39 would even be where I want it..The gears are very tall with the 14/38..

sorry I was not clear I meant that the smaller sprocket made the chain angle diferent where it goes over the swingarm and that the chain would grind into the chain guide really hard and over a short time even grind into the swingarm.

I see what you meant..It doesnt seem like it would run any different on mine with a smaller front, but I guess what I am going to do is order a 13 tooth front 39 rear (hope it isnt too big for my chain guide) and a new chain and see how that goes..I guess I could always put my 14 back on with the bigger rear and see how it goes if the 13 does ride funny..

Try using a TMM Design chain slide on the swing arm,
They wear great!

I'm running a lsr yzf frame, but I don't have any problems with rubbing. I don't know how many links there are but, I'm running 14/37 its still to low I'm going to go 14/36. I find it hard to believe you guys think first is to tall. I can't punch the gas in first through fourth without pulling the wheels, in an instant. I would try the spacer I think there is supposed to be a small one there.
