I have installed the motion pro on my '06. There are a few (safety) wires that you will need to cut and tape off. These wires from the thumb throttle to the frame and the 1 in the carb (side cover where the throttle cable is.) This is a fairly easy task. It is a little time consuming , but I'm very happy with mine.

Did you get the CR Pro or Vortex kit? Does it come with a carb top? or is one needed? Thanks for the info!!

Put motion pro on my 06 and love it:devil: Its like having an on off switch instead of a throttle. My buddies call it hillbilly but its only cause they're little girls:D Sorry if I offended any real little girls. It goes on pretty easy once you get the tank and everything out of the way.

I'm not sure which kit I purchased , I think it was the vortex. Nothing else is need with the kit. When you install it use caution for the 1st few rides. Especially on decents. Have 2 fingers on the clutch .:)

they come with tops. careful with the vortex, it's a quarter twist throttle - very fast! I use the cr with no problems

Can someone specifically tell me what needs to be done with the wires going into the stock thumb throttle on the 06 450er? I got the Motion Pro twist coversion kit but it doesn't say anything about the wires???

So just splice the two wires running into the thumb throttle together ??

follow the wires out of the thumb throttle down to the relay.. Cut about 2 inches up, splice the wires together electrical tape them together and tuck them up neatly under the relay. This is only a "safety switch". As long as the circuit is closed they will never be a problem.

If I remember right I think I cut mine at the carb and just left them in that little black boot thing they come out of.

i bought a used 04' R and it had a twist throttle on it. i absolutely hate it. i am getting it changed when the previous owner returns the thumb throttle. if anyone would like to buy my twist throttle i would be more than happy to sell it. just let me know and shoot me a price.

Strange, the GT thunder site that you also have to do something with the carb sensor on the 06 TRX450ER (i.e. Electric Starter model). Then some else says to clip the wires and not allow them to touch.

So for some who has recently done this on a TRX450ER, do I only cut the throttle wires and tape them together OR keep them separate?

Do I need to something on the carb sensor?

TIA.,
Vic

If your planning on getting a twist don't use the vortex, its to wide open esp. if your a woods rider. My 450r turned into a death machine when I did it, so I order the CR Pro 1/2 turn. If your MX or a pro rider that wants that then it is for you but other wise I wouldn't reccomend it. By the way I have a brand new 450r vortex throttle for sale if any one is interested?...lol :D
