14 Tooth Sproket

I just ordered a 14 tooth sproket and my friend told me that i should get a new chain and rear sproket becasue if i don't the new sproket will wear very fast.

Is this true?

If the rear sprocket and chain are worn than yes it will wear the new sprocket out faster.
