Aright what are you guys doing when you replace your stock air filter with an aftermarket filter....what I want to say is that when you take the backfire screen out...what are you clamping to.....is anyone using a Pro Design or Sparks billet ring to clamp to or what.....I'm kinda lost here cause the intake won't give you a good seal......and what is everyone jetting to with the airbox lid off, aftermarket filter and the baffle out of the exhaust....everything else is stock on my 06.....and I am around 1000 to 1200 feet...thanks in advance for any help...

Using the Pro Design venturie piece in both my 450r's. Works great. No issues. We have a 185 main jet in w/o air box, however we do have full system pipes on the bikes. You may want to start around 180 main and see how it works. Better rich than lean. Good luck.

06' 450ER

I basically have that same setup and yes I am using the Pro Design K&N w/adapter. I also have a full pipe and the lid is pulled. Currently setup for jetting:

165 Mainjet
42 Pilotjet
55 Leakjet
HRC Needle on 3rd clip
2 1/4 turns out on the mixture screw

Plug checks look great and runs perfect.

A 180 is to big on an '06. I believe this guy has an '05. That sounds like a good size for him though. I would go with a 165 main and adjust from there.
