Is a stock 250R frame that has been fully gusseted as strong as a aftermarket round tubing frame like Arens or Lonestar?

I personally would say no. Although greatly improved it is still cheap thin metal with bad welds! The aftermarket frames use better metals like chromolly and tig welds. Frame design is slightly better as well! Just my opinion however!

Like stated above, no it wouldn't be because of the different metal used with each frame. For aftermarket frames, there is chromoly metal which is stronger than the steel used for stock frames. Though, gusseting does help a lot with increasing strength it is probably about 75% strength of an aftermarket frame.

so how much weight do you lose when you switch to an aftermarket frame?

I have never weighed either of them, but it wouldn't be so much the weight savings for a reason to buy aftermarket! I would be buying it for the strength and piece of mind!
