The 2006 Southern Ohio Cross Country Series comes back to Humboldt Hills for round 2 of the series on Sunday, May 28th.
Now in its third full season, the SOCCS has been attracting people from all over the midwest and this season looks even better.
More Sponsors, more races, and more awards are all in place for 2006.
A Cross Country or Harescramble is a race for Atv's and Dirtbikes over all types of terrain including hillclimbs, woods, rocks, creek beds, and even motocross sections. Its a race against the clock to do as many laps as you can in a set amount of time. Youth races run about 40 minutes while adult races run as long as 2 hours.
The event offers classes for all ages and/or type of offroad vehicles.
Racers will battle with each other for 8 rounds to see who will end up on top of the podium and be crowned SOCCS Champion.
In 2005 over $10,000 in awards and prize money went to the racers. This year will be no different. The promoters of the series, Ora Elliott,(Happy Hollow) Jayme Konkler(Krash Racing) and Jay Wile(Humboldt Hills) all believe in giving back to the sport we all love, Off Road racing.
Over the past two years attendance has climbed at nearly every event, and after record turn-out for round 1 at Happy Hollow, this season looks to carry on the tradition..
The races offer allot for the spectators as well. Unlike motocross racing, where you are confined to certain areas of the track, at the SOCCS events the spectators are free to move about any part of the race course they wish.
Whether you are a rider or just love to watch some good offraod racing, you won't want to miss all the great family fun.
