A friend at work just bought an '05 450r and he swears up and down that it has 12.2:1 compression stock. I have never heard of this. All the stock numbers I've ever seen say 10.5:1. I think he is full of it, but just curious. Thanks for your help.

I believe it was originally a 12.2:1 piston but they used a thicker base gasket to lower it to 10.5:1. I may be wrong tho

That was the mopst drastic change to the motor for 06, they did 100% surely bumped it to 12:1 not 12.2:1. THe 10.5 was from 04 and 05 offerings.

Yeah I have the '06 er and I told him about all the changes they have made for the new model, but he still swears that his has 12.2:1. I tried to tell him that as far as I know all '04 and '05s have 10.5:1. I think he is just one of those ppl that you can't tell anything.

He could have a stock bore 12:25:1 since I know there is one for the 04-05 models.

It's brand new though. He just bought it last week and he is saying it came with this high comp piston from Honda. I told him to bring his spec sheet to work so I could see it. I won't believe it until I do.
