ok heres the deal i have a ported head and i just recently put a new top end in.. and a HRC cam, the problem i had was that i couldnt even get a 1.20 shim to fit on the back valves. well i took some sand paper and got them down to where i could get the settings right. Now the ? that i have is will this be ok... keep in mind i have had the quad for 1 year it is an 05 450r.... I also started it and the valve train is making no noise. Do you think i might need new valves though? maybe thats why it was so tight!

wtf? you took sandpaper to the valves to get them to fit!?!?!?!?!?! you better go buy the right size or the hotcams kit, you are asking for trouble

I have the hotcams kit , and the smallest shims in there wouldnt fit so i sanded them down... I rode it for five mins and it seems fine.. WHat could happen if i rode it for a long time?

you prob. need new valves if the smallest size wouldnt even fit. something doesnt sound right and id figure it out before I rode it anymore

I wouldnt have sanded the shims, it probably scratched the underide of the bucket and could have put some burrs in it. YOu need new valves they have pounded themselves into the head.
