Hey all, i got the 450R cam chain as the heavy duty replacement for my 400EX, though it has the same design, and number of teeth, it DOES NOT FIT!!! the chain is too wide and will slap back and fourth on the cam sprocket hitting the clutch and the aluminum case. might want to re-think that as an inexpensive heavy duty replacement!

The 2002 crf450 cam chain is what people have been using including myself. People buy it because its wider than stock. Ive been running mine for awhile and havent noticed any problems with it hitting the case or clutch. It has performed great for me.

the 05 chains are 114 links. The 02's are 112 links.

The '02 450 chain is the one i got. i got the part number from here looking for a heavy duty replacement for my 400EX. it fit length wise, but looked like it would slap from side to side on the sprockets. i didnt actually put it on because of that. maybe the tensioner kees it from doing that.

the tensioner keep it from slapping. if it get loos it could move a little and possibly hit something, but under normal use and with proper tension is should be fine
