Exactly... There pretty much the same performance, so its all about preference.. You just have to sit on them and go by the way the feel, and which one you like the feel of better.

have you ridden any of the 3? :huh The 450r no way a "slow trail quad". John Natalie owned on 450r in the 2005 GNC series. Did you inhale too much carb cleaner today? Bill Balance dominated on the yfz in 2005 also. I wouldn't call these average machines. As far as the ltr goes, i havent ridden it. It looks nice but i think the 2 other 450s will continue to keep up.

Ok, rather than post a short response, give evidence of your statement. How is the yfz "soo much better"? Not trying to cause an arguement, just a debate.

Not YET.. But its comin.. I can feel it ... :p

Seriously though... like mentioned, YOU REALLY need to go out and just evaluate each machine and see what fits YOU personally. What works well for one , might not work well for another.

Each quad does have its OWN FLAWS..

in stock trim i would go with a yfz for mx and the 450r for trail. I like the feel of the 450r better than the yfz because the 450 feels like your "in it" and the yfz feels like your "on top of it". if that makes sence to any one.;)

i rode a honda and a yamaha b4 i bought my 450.. the yamaha was quick but was really easy to get on 2 wheels and like that other guy said it feels like your ontop of it.... the 450r just feels more comfortable.. Its a very fast bike and its just slides around instead of getting up on 2...the only thing i didnt like about the r were the big a $ $ trail tires... But i went with the honda and couldnt of been happier i got sum holshots now and it made a world of difference..Go HONDA:macho lol

which one is easier to work on or maintain?

1. Cam swap?
2. Piston swap?
3. Chain Adjusmtent?
4. Air Filter Access?
5. Axle Bearing removal?

these type of things.

I ride a lot of trails and race XC occasionally, and I love my Honda. Suspension was a little stiff stock though. But I guess a lot of that has to do with me weighing 145 lbs.

Depends on what type of riding you are going to do, like motocross or hare scrambles and then it comes to suspension(stock the yfz is said to be better), steering and feeling comfortable on what u pick..
i also weigh 115 pounds but i have aftermarket suspension that is really working great for me

It really depends on your riding habits and what not. The YFZ's from what im told you cannot lug them then stab the gas and have power like you can on a trx450r. That coming from a YFZ owner. But i haven't ridden a YFZ. As far as speed they are all really close. It's mainly personal preference. A lot of people going with Honda because they are loyal to Honda, or vice versa with Yamaha. Also about the Suzuki LT-R. I was not impressed with there performance. I had a chance to race at least 5 of them and not once did i get beat on my 05 trx450. Even the suzuki owners were shocked, because there bikes were piped and chipped. I think with it being a first year quad it will become better a year or two down the road.

Answering the question made by force. Which one is easier to work on and maintain? Well, for the cam swap, i'd have to say the 450r because the top of the engine is so much easier to get to. On the yfz, the plastic is harder to get off. My buddy has one and one time when he first got it, we went to change the needle in the carb and we had to take the front tank plastic off, then the tank and stuff. It just seems alot easier to get to the engine on my 450r. Same goes with the piston swap i'd say. chain adjustment used to suck on the yfz until recently when they copied off the Honda adjustment. so the win goes to honda there just because the created it. Id say that air filter access is about the same. and i dont know about axle bearings, but the 450r's are easy to get to.

Buy what ever you are comfortable on and dont let people tell you that one or the other is junk. None of the new 450's are junk. They all have theyre defects. They all handle almost the same and are just as fast. It all depends on the rider.
