is there aftermarket shocks (front or back) available for the 250EX? i'm not going to buy some right now, but i'm just curious on what my options would be. i'm starting to get more air on jumps and i imagine the 6 inches of travel all-around wont last long. if i were to buy some, i'd strongly prefer more travel and no maintenance. any feedback would be appreciated. thanks

man seriously I wouldn't waste my money on the 250ex because your not gonna get that money back when you sell it and you might as well put it towards a 400ex but if you don't think you will ever get one I say get em' but save the stock parts so that you can put em' back on and sell your machine stock and then part out the used aftermarket parts and get just a little less than what you paid for em'.

well, i might as well get them because i'm 14, jobless and i'm broke so that 400ex (which i'd love to buy if i had the cash). my dad bought my quad for me ( in exchange for excellent grades for school throughout the year), so that payment towards the 400 will be mostly the sale money from the 250. for me, it'll probably be a 3000-3500 dollar profit for me, since i didn't pay a dime for the quad. that 400 probably wont be coming for at least a year or two, maybe three. i like the low maintenence and auto-clutch of the 250. i dont have the slightest clue how to use a clutch and most clutches i've pulled on quads and dirtbikes are pretty stiff (even though the 400's wasn't bad). i'm fine with the 250 for now.

isn,t the 250 just a recon with sportier plastic on it?if so then it really isn,t meant to be jump very high.

everyone makes that assumption. no, the 250ex uses a recon engine but has been tuned for sport riding, so it gets about 10-15% more power

isnt it like www.worksperformance.com ? Im not sure.
But dude, like nausty said, dont blow away the money. If you've got $400+ to spare for shocks for your 250ex, then you've got enought to buy a 400ex.
sell the 250ex for $3200 plus $400 = $3600 (very roughly)
You can easily get a 400ex for that (I hooked my friend up with a 400ex for only $3000)! And a stock 400ex will have better suspension that a 250ex with works shocks (because of travel) and about 3 times the power.
Clutches are very easy, dont be afraid of one. Just pull it in when you shift and to stop. After a while you will actually go much faster useing a manual clutch (and have more fun)

dumping the clutch is just dumping it, feathering it is like a race start, realy close to dumping it, but not,

Yes, Works makes shocks but only gives you like 1 extra inch of travel and you can buy rezzies too but its really pointless.
Like everybody else said, save for the 400. That 1 inch wont make much difference so why blow 500-600 on em when that could go towards a new bike. At least you are 14 and not freakin 16 like me. Its so freakin gay its not even close to being funny and im 5' 11" 155lbs on this little bike. Trust me man, go for the 400 and a manual clutch is not hard to learn how to use. My buddy showed me and after the 3rd time dumpin it I got it goin. lol. Really ez. Trust me.
