For the fifth round of the WORCS series, we packed our bags and headed to CLAY PEAK MX TRACK, in Payette Idaho.

We made the drive from California, and where able to visit a few other states along the way.

quadchick01
05-15-2006, 06:32 PM
Along with Idaho, we where also able to visit Oregon, in fact Payette, Idaho and Ontario, Oregon where only a few miles apart, and most of the racers where staying in Oregon.

After the twelve hour drive, we where finally there. And it was not too long before we saw some familar faces, such as Robert Kramar, and Brian Harris.

And there were plenty of Rhinos out there this weekend. We are glad to see this class growing, and where definitely excited to watch this race.

quadchick01
05-15-2006, 06:36 PM
Maxxis, was out there in full support, and we are very glad to see them backing this series so much.

There where many racers there this weekend and trailers filled the parking area.

From the top of the hill you could see the infield of the track. They called this area the "MotorCross" section, but most racers did not agree with this, and there where really no jumps.

quadchick01
05-15-2006, 06:39 PM
You could even see the city of Ontario, Oregon.

quadchick01
05-15-2006, 06:42 PM
The track was a very fast track, and most of the riders enjoyed it.

quadchick01
05-15-2006, 06:43 PM
Unfortunately if you were not out front on the start you had a difficult time seeing. Most riders could not even see their bumper.

quadchick01
05-15-2006, 06:44 PM
As you can see, it was dusty on almost the entire course.

quadchick01
05-15-2006, 06:46 PM
This is where the start would be, ad the holeshot would be the first person to catch air off the top.

WORCS bought flowers for all of the mom's out there this weekend, for having to come out to the race track on Mother's Day.

Most of the mom's didn't mind coming out here, and where just glad to be able to watch their kids race.

Here is Debbie Bloodworth, who's husband and daughter dragged her out here, but Debbie did not seem to mind to much.

There were 14 pros lined up to race, and with a 90 minute race anything could happen.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:36 PM
It looked as if Doug Eichner would be pulling the holeshot and grabbing the $200 Hyper Holeshot cash.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:39 PM
But it was the number 98 rider John Shafe who was able to grab the holeshot.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:39 PM
But after the turn, it was Doug Eichner who was able to move out front.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:41 PM
The pro am class was off, and it was the number 249 Mike Kelley who was able to grab the holeshot.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:42 PM
Two of the riders, one which was Justin Waters, got tangled just before exiting the infield causing them both to crash. But they were both ok, and quick to get going.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:44 PM
This picture shows you just how dusty is was out there on the track. It was definitely an advantage to be out front.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:47 PM
Doug Eichner was still ahead, and had put some distance between himself and the second place rider Josh Frederick.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:48 PM
Josh Frederick was running not to far behind Eichner, and after having a mid-pack start, was closing the gap.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:49 PM
John Shafe was running in the third place position about thirty seconds behind Frederick.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:52 PM
Brian Martin, number 260, was running in the first place position for the first lap.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:55 PM
Justin Waters was running in the 8th position when he had some electrical issues, and was forced to drop down a few laps while his pit crew figured out what was wrong.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 07:59 PM
Eichner was still in the lead with a little bit of time on Frederick.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:00 PM
But Josh was determined and not even close to giving up.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:00 PM
Meanwhile Brandon Brown had moved into the third place position.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:02 PM
Pushing John Shafe into the fourth place.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:03 PM
Meanwhile in the Pro Am class Nicholas De Le Grange moved into the first place position with a two and a half minute lead on the second place.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:04 PM
Brian Martin, had dropped bad to about mid-pack.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:05 PM
As you can see, there was not much passing room on this track, and riders had to work to get around their competition.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:06 PM
Here is Justin Waters going up one of the many hills on the course. As you can see it was very steep, rutted, and soft. Many riders would get stuck going up this hill.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:07 PM
Josh Frederick was one of the few riders to jump down this hill, where one of the Pro-Am riders crashed at, and was out for the race.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:07 PM
Bradon Brown was still running a stong consistent race.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:08 PM
Doug Eichner was able to take the win for the Pro class, with some time to spare on second place.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:10 PM
It seemed that it was not Josh's day. A few hundred yards before the finish line, Josh's clutch went out. Josh was pushing his bike to the finish line when the Pro Am rider Bryan Martin came around and pushed Frederick to the Finish line. THATS SOME SPORTSMANSHIP!!!!!!!

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:13 PM
Brandon Brown grabbed the third place position, and his first podium of the year.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:22 PM
And here are your podium winners.

Doug Eichner - 1st Place

Josh Frederick - 2nd Place

Brandon Brown - 3rd Place.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 08:23 PM
And it seems that they ALWAYS gang up on Eichner when they are celebrating.

Hey that's me. I was running fourth until I got run over trying to tell a worcs official about an unconcious downed rider in one of the back sections which is the reason for my terrible finish. I did dominate the open A class saturday though.

Roy Bloodworth grabbed the holeshot for the +30 A Class, but dropped back after getting tired. On the last lap, he lost the nut on the Tie Rod. SO he diconnected his kill switch, tied the tie rod back to the spindle and finished the race. TALK ABOUT QUICK THINKING.

quadchick01

Shawn Shannon grabbed the win for the +30 A Class.

quadchick01
05-16-2006, 09:37 PM
Catie Harris was ready for her race, after having to wait all weekend.

The youth classes, who run on a modified course is one of the best classes to watch as the parents scramble around the track to watch their kids ride.

Once again, we want to thank all of the people who help support and cover this series such as Pattie Waters. Without their help we would not be able to have this series going as well as it does.

After a long weekend, it was time to pack up and head home. Along with all the other riders.

quadchick01

So we said goodbye to Payette, Idaho, and the Snake River and headed home.

Yeah, last year, it rained...so track conditions were excellant. Jumps still weren't all that great.

This year...the dust was HORRIBLE...i've never seen the dust so bad at a WORCS race. Seemed like they were a little lazy on that side. Looking at the layout, they could have watered a lot of it if they trully tried.

Also, I have a complaint on the flaggers(or lack thereof) during the Pro race. I had two good friends that could have easily been killed(trully...no exagaration) do to other riders not knowing the situation. One flagger at the top of the pro hill...and they would have been a lot safer, along with one being in much better shape......at the same time, a flagger at the top probably couldn't have seen a wreck at the bottom, because of the DUST

Hopefully it's only a one time thing for WORCS.
