Just to let you know if you didnt already, you are supposed to get your rear PEP set up for those tires. They are smaller in diameter than Turf Tammers, and require a longer shock to perform at their best.

Im running a long travel rear pep with the baldwin link and with the mxr4's I had in my rear sat extremely high. With the quadcrosses it sits just about even now and rides awesome with them on. I think its set up pretty good. I didnt know that though but it rides fine the way it is.

Yeah a tire has A LOT to do with how a shock perfroms. All shocks have ratios. My rear shock has a ration of 2:1. For every 2" my rear tires moves up my shaft moves 1". It is important to give tire sizes to get maximum travel, and ground clearences. This is why it is important to have your shock set up for your linkage instead of mismatching. Your linkage is what gives you your ratios, and your shock builder will set it up to the ratio the linkage is set up for.

You know someone else told me that the other day actually. If it becomes a problem sometime soon then while they are in basically new shape I will take them off sell them and buy some raths. Is they any good aftermarket heel guards that will bolt up if I hack them off?

True that with the suspension but besides that everything else was bought.....Well i actually bought an exhaust and trail tech lights and then spent a little over 2 grand on the engine from getting it built by Baldwin (hopefully ill get a good gain out of the power), but my engine is still out at baldwin so i threw the engine from my other quad in there for now.

not that i know of. All i know is that they are 100x's better without the guards. They look goofy, but they ride so muchbetter. I think I am going to switch to an IMS peg and nerf setup later in time.

Nope, none that I see so far. and i got them pretty tight too. If thats the only thing keeping you away from them you could probly by some good matching color zip ties and those should work just as good and shouldnt cause it to cut hose at all. Just so you know though, I had a hell of a time cutting the hose with actual hose cutters. I would say its about 5x if not more stronger than the stock ones which cut in half in about .5 seconds.

it all depends on your plans for the rig in the future and your budget.

when i picked up my quad i did not have enough for an HRC, f/s pipe or even a s/o...so i just bought the HRC jets/needle and pulled the baffle out as well as ditching the airbox lid. that made a noticeable difference and allowed me to save up for a f/s pipe and HC stg 2. I was originally going to go the HRC route but decided that I want a f/s not just a slip on down the road so i was basically replacing everything in that kit down the road except the cam and i already had the jets/needle.

Finally got some updated pics of mine. Probably going to stay this way for 08. Only changes might be DFR gripper seat and a rath bumper or flexx bars.

Mine is getting some big changes for 08. As soon as the race season calms down, its getting gusseting, powder coating, LT rear suspension, Rath nerfs, 4:1 douglas front rims, IMS-Roll bumper, and some custom graphics with my Dads work's logo, adress.... And if i can afford it, DRG is getting my motor.

thats what i was going to ask is what you used to fill that in. As i saw your post i was in the middle of doing the same thing. I replied to your post on my laptop in garage. I am going to do red instead. We bought a nice sand blaster so we dont need to use as much sand paper anymore. But it does look really nice. What auto store did you get that from and do you remember if they had a red color pen?

I have never heard that. If anything it will keep it cooler since you are thinning the motor out a little and lets air cool a lil better.

I bought the paint pen at O'Rielys. They are with all the spray paint. Its a ball point pen type deal on one side and a little paint brush on the other. Then pen tip works awesome. They have any color you can think of. They are made for touching up scratches on your vehicle.

actually its the opposite
the metal is porous like and polishing is like sealing the surface not allowing heat to escape

a polished surface has less surface area than a rough one.

infantry317
03-03-2008, 08:04 AM
Actually doesn't sound THAT stupid. By eliminating the profile of the metal you decrease the outer cooling area by what, 50% maybe depending on what the original metal profile was. Its like a mountain range versus a prairie in a given map section, which has more surface area? The mountains. I think this would be extreme, but not stupid.

well i thought this discussion was over, but regardless, half my motor is polished and i have an esr in-line temp gauge and my temp is still running the same as it did before i polished anything. so it most not make that big of a difference but if yall want to keep arguing about it then you are more then welcome. Now back to what the thread is really about.

That was the FSA race...
Four Stroke Association... Before they use to run something called Four Stroke Wars.

This was ran in the duners class... Got second place due to lane change but all in all good runner for a non dialed in ride...

I was then DQ'd for not making weight... lol

April 12 is the next race in Glamis...

Go to Fourstrockeassociation.com for details on race.

Here's mine. Pretty much stock 06 ER right now. I'm planning on building this as I get the time and money over the next year.

I'm setting the bike up for MX racing. Plan on taking on the local C class in a few weeks.

there are tons of great looking graphics, if you want to stand out and havea pretty loud color combination check out www.spasticdesigns.com. Their graphics are printed on high quality vinal and will not come off with the power washer!
