Ok first off I am not saying this is true by any means, it was a RUMOR I just heard and was wondering if anyone else heard this. I just talked to my buddy today and his uncle was at the Honda shop the other day (Good friends with owner) and they were talking about a rumor of Yamaha building this quad using the 250F motor. Like I said it sounds like one of those "Yea I heard from so and so that talked to a good source" stories but it sounds somewhat realistic. They won't be making the blaster or banshee so it would make sense they would replace them with a motor they already have a good track record with. Does anyone else have any input on this or is this just another waste of time thread?

They have to make a replacement for the blaster, and i doubt they would put an air cooled engine in a blaster frame because thats wayyy outdated, i say a smaller YFZ based chassis with a YZ250F engine in it for sure:cool:

That'd be pretty awesome..

wouldn't surprise me in the least. they need a new smaller CC machine, and the yz250F engine has good power, is liquid cooled, and doesn't weigh much. it would be the perfect engine for a new quad to compete in the lower CC classes.

yeah, bring some life back to the lower cc quads

What MX class would it be raced in?

Im guessing sportsman/blaster class will be revamped to a 250class, (excpet 125) (dirtbikes). It'll be same as dirtbikes, except for quads!

Once one of the big four companies makes a quad with a new generation 250cc thumper motor the rest will follow since Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki also sell water cooled 250cc thumper MX bikes. It's just a natural evolution.

And once that happens a new class of racing is born.

That would be so good if Yamaha made a quad like that, but if there making any kind of 250 its probaly going to be a slow semi auto peice of junk.

I doubt that, the blaster was an animal.

I think it would be awsome if they brought out a YFZ250F. Then honda would make a TRX250r <---lol... But it would be sweet to have a 125 and 250 class for quads, just like bikes.

How about this, dump the raptor 350 motor for the 250 liquid cooled or just put the 250 motor in the yfz so you have a yfz 250 and a yfz 450

it is infact 100% true... becasue they were going to have me race it in the new ESPN series if they could get it built in time... but they couldnt

i dont think most of yall get it though, the power to wait ratio of a yz250f is like exaclty the same as a yfz450... i think that its possible that they make the quad i just think yall would be dissopointed.
what i would like to see (doubt it will ever happen though) is some bigger and more power full motors in the 450 chasis so that they feel more like a 450 bike than a 250....

see... i think a 250 would be fine... CRF250 and YZF250's beat me in the hole all day long...

I think it would be an awesome idea. There are actually 3 kids here that put yz250f motors in 400 frames. I think if yamaha did this, honda would really have to step it up with the 300, or just do the same thing.

It would make senes for them to do this. I think it's strange that there is no real into class in quad racing like there are for bikes. I race ready 250 would be a lot better steping stone to the big quads than the 200/300 air cooled bikes. Plus this opens up more racing for everyone. There could be 250 A,B,C classes and 450 classes alowing more people to race in the weekend.

You guys are forgetting one of the whole selling prices of the blaster, the price. If they take a whole new look maybe theyl make like a yfz250, otherwise it wont be the best to keep the price down

Hopefully it's not some fully automatic, obiese (sp), tank that looks like a cheesy yfz.

if yamaha got serious with this new 250 quad all the other companies would eventually follow and this would turn into a highly competitive class it would be perfect for people not yet ready for 450s

The blaster was an animal, but a 250ex and other similar quads aren't.
