The other day i decided to try and make my own aluminum air box. i must say it was easy to make.(it took a while) i think it came out pretty good. right now i have my stock air fliter in there i have to make a few more modifications to it to fit in my K&N. it only caust about $20.00 at the hardware store. and a lot of pop rivits. it did however come out light then the stock plastic air box.

If you make a smaller seperate box for the battery the carb boot will hold it up :D

hope this helps, my r & d from when i built mine

USE WASHERS where you bolt it to the frame or it will break there. Mine was completely welded and reinforced and it still broke. We found out it was cause we did not leave teh indention for the chain like the stock air box and it was too deep and would get hit by my shock linkage. If you remember the indention it sould be fine.

im going to put some aluminum straps around the underside of the air box that will be held up by the subframe. i'll tell ya how it works out.

Looks good. I would recommend putting some oil on your filter however. It looks a little on the dry side. :)

Looks good..... What are the dimension of the air box? Are they the same as a 300ex?
