Hesitation and Backfiring?

The carb on my 1987 suzuki 230s quadsport is acting up. The quad isn't running smooth and stalls easy. It backfires, mostly when you go to start it. Does anybody know an easy fix to the carb besides getting a rebuild kit or getting another carb?

I'd take the carb out and clean it thoroughly,,top to bottom,,clean the jets,,everything,,put it back together and see what happens...might wanna drain the gas tank too,,there could be garbage in the bottom of the tank filling your carb up with rust and what not..:macho
