I have searched this forum and it seems that when asked what a good slip-on for a 400ex is it varies greatly. Mostly whatever that person has on their quad at the time. Dirtwheels did a shootout (http://www.ctracing.com/PD_ct%20photos/dirt_wheels_march_2001.htm) in 2001 which may or may not be outdated, I don't know if the newer model pipes and quads are that different. But it doesn't include just a whole lot of pipes. Does anyone know where i can find dyno comparison tests of more pipes on stock 400ex's? I'm somewhat interested in the Ballance Pro or even the CT (even though i believe it may be kinda loud).

go for yoshimura they have good pipes and interchangeable sound tips

Yoshimura has been one i've looked into (the rs-3) but still, i just would like to maybe see some statistics. Actual HP gains, weight, loudness. I've seen people talk about newer exhaust shootouts on the 400ex, but i can't find anywhere that has the results posted. If anyone can help i would appreciate it.

i just put a supertrapp ids 2 on and i can really feel the power throughout the whole motor when i run 18 disk but they say you can get up to 3hp off the pipe with the right disk in its really not a bad pipe for 179$ and it sounds really good! probaly around 96-98db but it can be tuned even louder if you want to.

I stick to my word I had 5 different exhaust on my old 460EX and I learned the best way... the best full system for a 400ex is the

yoshimura TRC pro series full system- $ 615.99

the best slip-on....

HMF all the way cheap and power increases..

is a white bros E2 very good? im thinking of getting one of those.

White Bros. E-2's are a reliable pipe that will give u noticable gains.. but I would buy the PRO2 race system they are awesome pipes and just roar. I love mine on my 450R because it unleashes the beast potential.

which one from HMF because for some reason i'm leaning mostly toward them? the catalogs i have show the ballance pro slip on but no approximate hp gains, weight, db levels. Even on the HMF website it doesn't have that (unless i've overlooked it).
I also noticed they show the ironman series on their website. It just doesn't say much else about it. Any info on this?

I've got an '05 400ex, and I'm having issues finding an exhaust as well. I think Yosh would be a slam dunk, but they don't have one yet for the 05's. I'm probably leaning towards the HMF Ballance series as well. Let me know if you come up with some good reviews!!

the HMF's are good exhuast... HMF Ballance pro slip-on is good for its price and it has good power gains.. However I would still spend an extra 300.00 bucks and buy a Pro Circuit in a lil while or a Yoshimura full system, I still love White Bros. because they can be quiet or loud depending on how you want ur exhuast to be.. just by adding disks

it was prolly a yoshi RS-3... I dont like those systems my freind had one and it didnt sound good and it was just barely a power increase.

I first bought the white brothers e2 slip-on for my 400ex, and it was nice, I liked how adjustable it was, but its the only slip-on i used so I have nothing to compare it with, I now have a full DMC system. If you can afford I would suggest a full system, but if not, the white brothers worked good for me.

yeah, i work about a block away from Motosport.com, but they have terrible inventory. They have great prices, but nothing in stock. They've been b/o'd on that Yosh system for months.
Sucks to hear a bad review on the yosh system though. I've only heard great stuff about the product. We shall see though...

I luv the Yoshi TRC pro series full system, but the Yoshi RS-3 full system is just a complete waste of money I think it may add a little performance and noise.. A LITTLE

Ok...well after a lot of reading about the million different pipes and million different opionions on the million different forums out there i think i've narrowed it down. I've definately decided on HMF. This quad is going to be on the MX track mostly so should i go with the HMF Sport series or the Ballance Pro? Would the Pro smooth the torque out too much to really dig in?

Sorry, I also meant to include the QRS (Quiet Race Series) exhaust in that last thread. A comparison of all three pipes for MX??

05-20-2006, 12:59 PM
If you are going to be on the MX track a White Bros. is a good selection!! the E-2 is good, Pro2, and MX4!! they are all lightweight and if have a little money buy the exhaust in carbon fiber!! it helps with weight.

05-20-2006, 01:01 PM
If you are going to race MX I know the perfect exhuast for you..

White Brothers Pro2 Race carbon fiber full exhuast system..

it will run you about 699.00 but its definitely worth it, I have it on my atv and I love the sound and performance on the track and everywhere else
