my question is i have a dealer by my house (Risson cycle) in NJ and they have an 05 leftover brand new, the dude there said he would give me a killer deal and told me he will let the z400 go for 5,000 and throw the first tune up/service in for free, does that sound like a good deal or should i look somewhere else? also i dought that is with out tax and evrything else i need to pay for. tell me what you guys think, thanks

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I just paid 5695 OTD for an 06, but there was no tax since I bought it out of state.

thats not a bad deal, but i would have them change the magnesium covers to aluminum ones for free to and call it a deal. i got my 04 in ohio for 4700 otd last year in march. that first service is like 150 bucks so it sounds like he willing to work with you, much more than the indy dealers are. oh and you dont want a 450r! i rarely hear about anyone not liking their honda but my friend upgraded to a 450r from 400ex and his 450 has all been in the shop atleast 3 times for bs things happening.

first and foremost--because its a "honda":blah: j/k--it was leaking oil out through the air box and the crankcase vent somehow. he just picked it up today and the dealer said if you ride too many wheelies the oil will start to leak out?!?!?!? WTF? other than that there was "nothing" wrong with it. so they say. what is your opinion or have you heard of this? i'm curious! oh and it is an 06. he has only ridden twice to attica and once to haspin. not 1 drop from the ZUKI though!

too many wheelies makes it leak oil ? haha that wasnt a atv dealer it was a crack dealer and he has been smoking all the profits!!
I have not heard of the oil leaking into airbox, some of the 06's
I have heard had a leak at the sight glass.
you typed it has been in shop 3 times for bs stuff
is it the same thing each time ? maybe the dealer is stupid lol

twice for the oil and yes the first oil time was for the sight glass and once for the clutch. i dont know what was wrong with it but it was making crazy noises everytime he clutched it. it is the local honda dealer that he bought it from and who is servicing it. maybe he got a lemon! all i know is that if i paid almost 7k for a quad and had this much trouble i would be crappy. glad its not mine!

oh and did you name your 450r affter the lion king?

Mufasa was the badest of the bunch so I though it was fitting.

NO! some of the guys have had corrosion after like 5 hours of riding. i would have them replace it when you buy it and before you take it home. just my opinion

if you have the aluminum covers it doesnt really matter which coolant you use as long as it is for atv's

agreed... just changing the coolant isnt enough.. the metals will react in just water, let alone an active electrolyte like coolant..

dont fool yourself into thinking its ok while the 2 dissimilar metals are immersed into the same solution.. its only a matter of time..

the boating industry has used magnesium alloy as a sacrificial metal for aluminum outdrives for years.. apparently the designers at KAW just got out of school..

The clutch case has to go befor you ride, my dealer did not help me! so it would be a GREAT deal if they replace the cover & the "water pump cover" don't forget that. That also is magnizium.

Keep them and burn them in the desert J/K:D (no but really) :D

the dealer i'm getting mine from said they would replace it for free whenever they got the parts in.. there has been a bulletin on this

what do u mean as a bulletin

rockman
06-03-2006, 09:35 AM
well its kind of like a recall.. The dealers get these bulletins that tell them about issues that they have found, such as this one.. I believe the bulletin is replacing them with aluminum ones. They are going to do mine when the parts come in.
