I am selling my Z because i want to race the stock class in GNCC. I can get a 2005 450r for $4999, and i can get the 06' for $5999. i know the 06 has more power which would make sense for me to get if i am going to race it stock. But is $1000 more reasonable?? Is the 05' pretty good too?? Give me some oppinons of what you would do.

i would go with the 06 if your racing stock. the 06 has quite a bit more power.

I have a bone stock '06 and I raced an '05 last weekend with full exhaust, jets, and air filter. I beat him all the way through the powerband. We switched riders and tryed again. The '06 still beats the '05 no matter how you line them up. If you are racing stock, then yes the '06 is worth the extra $1000.

racing stock or not, the 06 still starts out that much further ahead of the previous years... go with the 06 for sure...

Thank you for the replies. I am now leaning towards getting the 06. Is there any problems with the electric starter on them?? Or should i just get the kick start??

race from dead start = kick version

race from running start = e-start

cant hit the throttle when e starting takes a little more time when
trying to start and launch quickly.
I have heard that the kick version revs a little faster and puts out
a fraction more hp on the dynos (very minimal) and its a touch lighter weight wise, but the kicker is a little more difficult to obtain.
racing stock class either version is going to be fast.
for the extra $1,000 the 06 would suit you alot better.

450rJam, where did you get your 06' at?? I am looking at getting one, but I am having trouble finding a dealer that will "work" with me. What did you have to give for it if you don't mind me asking. I know there is a dealer in Chanute that will do $5999 on them, but I haven't found anywhere else that will come that close. The dealer here in Wichita won't even budge from MSRP!!!! I was like you are the only dealer that hasn't taken anything off MSRP. I guess that's why they have so many 05's left as well!!! Anyway, let me know!!! Thanks.

I talked them down then made them throw in the hrc kit and
then made them install it.
my out the door cost was $7,124
sounds like chanute is a good deal to me.
