Hey, I am wondering what i would need to do to a mostly stock 250r for it to be comparable powerwise to a ported banshee. You see, right now i have a ported banshee, but after riding a YFZ 450, i understand the saying "suspension before power". Now im not gonna do something crazy like ride a 4 stroke, im just considering trading in the banshee for a 250r. I am afraid that i will not be to impressed with the power though and become bored with it, i hear with a pipe a 250r is a bit faster than a 400ex which isnt that great. Would, say, a ported 310 PV be comparable with the pull of my banshee now? I dont personally know anyone with a 250r so i have no one to ask!!

In my experience with a nicely ported with all the goodies 270r will compete with a ported banshee. thats if the 250r has alot of the fixens like nice pipe, carb, etc... I would aim for one that atleast has a 295 kit though just to be safe. Ideally 310 aftermarket cylinder or more.

Well I have a 265R and mine had been ported and I smoked a Banshee in a drag race. And mine is all geared for low end power, and had a low end pipe on it too.

And drag races are where the banshees are supposed to dominate. I was quite impressed with my machine then. and his wasnt stock neither.

yeah... thats how the 250r's got banshees beat is their lightness and bottomend. dont ya agree? over 100yds a banshee will be pullin away unless you have some good mods.

Thats wrong about the 250r, 250r stock power is around 32hp and they top out around 73mph stock with stock gearing, 400ex has around 28hp and tops out around mid 60's, and i use to have blaster bored .20 over wiseco pro lite pistons, fmf system and i wooped on stock and some piped 400ex's all day long in drag races. alls you need is a pipe good port job and a carb and you will be set, then you can hang with the 450's, i believe there is a dyno on here that has a 250r with an esr trx9 pipe and tmx38 carb and it dynoed right around 43hp and there is another one of i found on the interenet of a stock bore 250r with a pipe and port job pushing 55hp i couldnt believe it intill i saw the video they had of the dyno on the site. if i can find the video ill put a link to on here

what pipe?? they only make the trx 5,6 and 11 pipes.

that all depends on what kind of port, how good of a port, and what all esle you have done to your banshee...

my 265 will wax my bros banshee bored 4 over, with t5s, lightened flywheel, advanced timing, and lowered gearing... you can definately make your bike be up there with the fast banshees... if you've got a stock bored ported banshee, dont even worry about it.. .

the type of porting done to the banshee will make a huge difference...i have a CT310R and a drag ported banshee and my banshee walks all over the R in a drag, it isnt even close...my banshee dont even have to go into 6th to win....on the shee i have filters, pipes, carbs, reeds, pistons, advanced timing, 19cc domes....and the R has carb, filter, 310 kit, pipe, reeds...but both walk over every 4 stroke i have came across
