Dry Sump?

what is a dry sump an a 4 stroke? Is it when theres no oil pan and the oil is in a container on the side of the engine and then gets pumped through the block?

yes sir. the advantage is a bit more power cause the crank isnt spinning through it. but also at a cost....usually there is more oil plus the extra weight of the container and the pump and all the lines......
sounds like a lot and it can be. but....well, there you have it.
