on a 12 : 1 compression piston, you do not need to run race gas but it would not be a bad idea! on a 13 : 1 you NEED to run race gas. i would recommend a 12 : 1 because it does not recomend race gas and you will have plenty enough power.

I run a mix of race gas and high octane (93) I think it evens out to around 97 octane since I only run a 4:1 ratio of high:race. It depends on your budget, my last 5 gallon drum was about $35 and then about $15 for super.

If you run 13:1 you should run at least 100 octane. It also depends on what cam you are running. I have a 13:1 and I run straight vp 106 which is $5.95 a gallon. Honestly I don't think you will see a huge performance gain with 12:1.

i run about 60/40 110 octane and 91 when im practicing or just bsing around. then straight 110 in races and it is a huge difference.

I agree with you on it being a huge difference because I tried mixing 93 octane with my 110 octane and I tell you it made my 450R run so sluggish. I currently have my last tank of this mixed crap in there right now and when it's all gone I'm never going to mix it again. I'm going to run straight 110 because it is a night and day difference when you mix it. I'm sticking with the 110 from here on out.
So to answer your question, yes I suggest running race gas (110) if you are going with the 13:1. You might be okay with 93 if you get a 12:1. But I felt a dramatic difference in power loss when I mixed mine. The power is simply amazing when running the straight 110 octane.

Went from sunoco 110 leaded to sunoco 104unleaded and the 104 had more kick because it's oxygenated. Have 13:1 and yes everyone(all these engineering gurus) say definately race fuel above 12.5:1.

yeah definitely run race at 13:1 and up. i run straight 112 octane in mine. purrs like a kitten.

on a stock 450r is it fine to run just 93 ? and when i race just switch to straight race gas wit no changes? thanks
