View Full Version : D@MN electrical gremlins...HELP

Ok how do i use an electircal tester to check my igniton and starter button, my bike wont start when i hit the start button but if i jump the celoniod (sp) it fires right up? Please help

By using a jumper (screwdriver across the terminals) you are bypassing the solenoid. Usually this means the solenoid is bad.

not to be an *** but did you guys check the fuse near the battery?my buddies 04 400 did the same thing,the 15 amp fuse was blown.

if ya got a kill switch, ckeck it. ive had 3 go bad

If the nuetral light or the headlights work, it's not the fuse. Unplug the Yellow/green wire from the starter solenoid, then put a small jumper wire from the positive battery post to the Y/G wire connector off the solenoid to see if it starts. Make sure it's in nuetral incase it works. If it starts the solenoid is ok. If not, it's in the kill switch most likely. Good luck

Well got it fixed, there was dirt and crap down in teh fuse holder so it wasnt gettign good contact, cleaned it out and she fired right up. O yeah this was AFTER we had completey taken apart teh wiring harness, LOL
