View Full Version : Centrifugical Clutch

how do i take off the centrifugical clutch off of my tecumseh 5hp; streaker go-cart? i have a new one but no matter how much a try to turn the clutches one nut it wont budge!!!! i keep clutch still at this time but still no progress. i need to do it with home tools so ya.. thanks

Did you loosen the set screw!

if so I don't remember any nuts on it. Just a set screw and a greese fitting in the end of the crankshaft..

that is what i have, i have a 10 tooth sprocket on my clutch like that one so.. i guess thats it. where is the set screw and is that one for a #41 chain?

i have the bolt off of the end of the clutch now but how do i slide all of the stuff on it off?

remove the shaft tightening pin.... you should be able to pull that off, if not, you might need a pulley puller...

I'm no expert on these things but in the pic there appears to be a snap ring on the end of the sprocket holding everything on.

Nah, that's to hold the the shaft on the pulley it goes around....

Shows how much I know about these engines lol...I had to take a stab at it though :p

my clutch was tore up and fell apart as soon as it came off the shaft but all that remains is like something like a spacer around the shaft and on top of that is the back part of the clutch (round plate) that covers it in the back and another round plate in front of it.. i cant slide them off.. do those little slots in the shaft have anything to do with it?

I don't know these engines but i guess you need a puller, maybe two jaw? Not sure, hope it helps.
