problems,need help

i let my clutch fly hard on a paved road and my quad let out this loud scream.it sounds like when you take an R/C car motor and touch the gear against something while it is spinning.it also does it when when i pull out sometimes after i just get done riding along steadily for awhile and stop for a minute or so.
i can still beat a cammed,jetted,removed airbox,and piped 400ex but it seems like it is not pulling as hard as it used to and just revs higher than it used to when doing certain hills and such.
any suggestions?

could it be a timing gear?clutch?something in my tranny?
anyone?please?:(

ewww, I can tell you it probably wont be cheap.
but do you know exactly where the noise is coming from?

it seems to be coming from the left/front side of the motor.that is what has me thinking it has something to do with the cam chain.what has me clueless is why does it still run strong?if the timing was that screwed,it shouldn't run at all.
