Just got me a 05 450r a couple days ago and we were out at the track breakin er in. pulled up next to the new "450 lt-r". raced down the straight way and the honda burnt em from start to finish. Both were all stock brand new two days old

Not trying make it look bad or any thing but a 400ex was running side by side with it up until 4th gear. maybe 400ex had a big bore kit or something but that was shocking itself

the lt450 is corked up reall bad i heard from the factory to follow epa regulation. All you need to do is gut out the exhaust and the fuel injected beast comes alive from what i have heard. not to nock honda because i am a red rider forever. the 06 450r IMO is the best quad for me and love it.

the 450r is corked up big time also. Honda actually makes a kit to uncork it, The HRC kit.

The HRC kit comes with the crf cam, timing mod(1000 more rpms), bigger header, needle, jets(162 main), exhaust insert, and all necessary hardware. It really uncorks these things. Can't wait to get one for mine. Great power for the money. They come direct from honda for $360, but I've seen them on ebay for as low as $280. Be careful not to get the HRC kit for the '04-'05 though, it was different then.

Oh ok, well they have really good deals on the HRC for '05 on ebay as well. I think they are around $260 or so from honda, so look around before you pay to much. Since they have been out longer, it'll probably be easier to find one for them.

be careful of what you get but there are alot of 04/05 riders that are upgrading farther than the hrc kit so they are selling the kit in used form, really cheap but like I said be careful and buy from a good feedback person.

450rJam makes a good point. Always check the feedback from someone on ebay anytime you buy anything.

The 04'-05' hrc kit doesn't do nearly as much performance wise as the '06 kit. And just taking off the air box lid and the spark arrestor and plugging in a resistor on the lt-r gives it a 8 hp bump.

I raced an LT-R450 last weekend and I have the HRC kit and a Yosh slip-on. The LTR is bone stock and kept right up with my quad. I was very impressed. The LTR is much faster than you think. Are you sure it was an LT-R 450 and not a 400?

I raced a uncorked cherry bombed LTR last Sunday. My 06 has a full rossier~ short can, HRC jets, modified air filter, and a 14 tooth (stock is 13). I could get him out of the hole, but by the first turn (about 250 yrds.) he would have me by a tire or two. Yeah and good luck keepin up with it around the turns cause where the trx is tippy that thing just slides.

The LTR is a "corner to corner" quad, not a drag quad. The power is smooth and linear, but revs quick and is decievingly fast. Its an awesome machine, you really have to ride one with a Yoshi and the injection tweeked on a MX track to appreciate the unique style of power it has.

very true, my freind has an lt-r which has baffle removed, spark arrestor removed, cherry bomb insert, and a White Bros Carbon Fiber Pro2 complete exhuast system.. and I can beat him by the 3-4 lengths my '06 450r.. but when we hit the MX track its total domination, I mean the way the lt-r's just slide and get up and go amazes me, they also have very good low end power which is always best on an MX track, he takes the Holeshot every single time and beats me by about 8 lengths every MX race.. he races YFZ's thats are slightly modded and wins by 14 lengths on tracks and yet he loses in a drag race..:huh I dont understand but one thing I do know is its 5th gear has a short rev period, so It actually doesent get it fully revved out.. I like the lt-r but it depends on the riding you do.. MX.. lt-r all the way.. drag prolly a 450r and woods and trails the 450r is prolly slightly better then YFZ.. but u cant go wrong they are all great.. just at diff things.
