I have the chance to turn my mostly stock 87 R into an 05 450r if I give $1000 boot. My quad is ugly but freshly rebuilt and runs great. The quad in question is beautiful and probably faster than mine, but will look like other quads I'll run into.
What other pro's and con's do you guys see?
Common sense tells me to go 18 years newer. My heart says, ride the legend and suffer the few negatives for the cool factor.
Let me hear you opinions.
Thanks

maybe with the $1000 you would need to put in you could mod the 87 R a bit? I wouldnt trade it...the R is a legend and your lucky to have one in great shape like that

I just traded my highly modded Banshee for a blown up Fourtrax 250R. I had a few guys wanting to trade for their 450's.

i would take the 1000 and make your bike look a bit better. i wouldn't get rid of them at this point. i have one of each and love them both. but i would sell my 250r ever.

I say keep the 250r and start modding it. The geometry on the 250 is still better than any of the new quads, and they can be built up to be un stopable. Plus they just look good.

All I can say is it has to say something when all these 450R guys want to trade for the legend! Stick with it and spend your money wisely on the 250!

All ways keep one 250r around... Ride the 450r and you will see. A true 250r done right is one of the best rides you will ever have!!! Yes my 450r is faster but the 250r is a fun quad...
