hello, i got a 2005 400 ex. i weight about 230lbs. should i adjust the shocks any cause of my weight? if so, softer or harder on ther rear? and how about the front? tighten the spring loads or loosen? i new to this so i not sure. thanks in advance.

Well it's a broad question for starters,the 400ex is setup at the factory for a rider about 220lbs.
The type of riding you do is the deciding factor,I ride harescrambles,I personally like my suspension a little softer because of the terrain.I weigh 212lbs.
Take a day and ride,take a shock adj tool with you and try some things.The worst you will do is end up riding all day.AND remember:Drive it like you stole it!!!


QUAD magazine had a excellent article on suspension last month!!

If you go riding and you think its to soft for your riding style and weight stiffen them up, same with the rear shock.

i ride at wayne national forest, and elsen street park and perry county forest. trail rides mostly. some ramps.

When you go to hit the jumps. thats when you will really tell if its to soft or etc.
