View Full Version : after rebuild, start up question

I didnt really rebuild anythign i just replaced my base gasket but i had to pull the jug and head. What do i need to do during reassembly to make sure i dont have a dry start. Shoudl i pour oil in teh head and lt it flow down to the bottom. i just dont want to toast my engine. thanks

after you have the cylinder on, use assembly grease on the cam bearings, and you should be fine. It will keep things lubed long enough for oil to reach them. Thats all I have ever done, and I have had 0 problems with things locking up right after a rebuild;)

rub oil on the cylinder walls, and put some oil on the valves, cam, bearins ect.. in teh top end.

OK so if i just fill up my oil tank and lube up all those little pieces it will be fine until the oil pump gets things circulating around in there??

the manual wants you to coat the inside bore with engine oil simply to reduce friction, if you not have done so, a teaspoon-tablespoon of engine oil / 2 stroke oil in the spark plug hole should work....
