Ok, heres my dillema, my 250ex's front shock are really stiff and I"m really light so i kinda get thrown all over the place when i try to hit whoops or just plain hit bumps. I want to know if there are any affective ways to make them softer without revalving them or switching out the shocks for some 300ex one's or w/e. I've had my quad for a year and they don't seem to be too much softer then they were new.

Don't the shocks have a preload adjustment? Just back them down some if it's too stiff.

250ex shocks have ZERO adjustments on them and i doubt u can revalve them. your only option is to get some works shocks unless you want to buy some elkas if they make them for 250s. i dont think 400 shocks will fit unless u had longer a arms mabye.

are you sure its the front shocks and not the rear shock?reason i ask is that my wife rides a 250EX and the front is fine for her but the rear was way to stiff.it threw her all over the place.she wieghs about 110 pounds.i put a front shock off my 400EX on the rear of her 250 and she loves it.didnt change the ride hieght either as the 400 shock is a little longer then the 250 shock.i just had to make 2 spacers for the top mounts as the top mount on the 400 shock is thinner than the 250 shock

neither the front or rear have any adjustment on a 250EX...I have a 250EX completely torn apart...I believe that 300EX front shocks are the same Length and they have some adjustment....and you can use a 400EX front on the rear....but you will have to make a couple spacers for the top mount cause the 400 eyelet is thinner.....and then you will have some adjustment on the rear also...the 400 shock has a smaller wire spring and the shock body isn't near as big....so it should be alot softer....

to go with what everyone else has said , 250ex's have non-adjustable suspension and the shocks are NOT rebuildable. they cannot be revalved.

there seems to be a few homebrew alternatives, among those being the banshee front shock out back, i have heard of a CR80 or CR85 rear shock working back there as well.

i was digging up some threads today and i came across a fella who thought with some minor fabrication, a 450r shock would fit out back also.

dont let the naysayers get to you, break out the MIG and washers and start experimenting!!!

if you're insistent that the fronts are your problem, you could try works, elka (email them about 250ex shocks, they for whatever reason are not listed), 400ex shocks could be use with the shock mount kit.

in all actuallity the 450R front shock would probably be the exact same length as the stock rear...the 400EX is a little shorter but you wouldn't notice.....I have had the stock rear and a 400 front on my bench and the 400 is probably a 1/4 or so short
