Well the time has finally come, i was out running my quad on a little track just playin around, and i broke my leg pretty good. I broke my shin bone in half, and the little one in three pieces. I always planned to get nerfs, but just put it off and put it off, well not anymore, I gotta get some before i am ready to get back on so I can show that jump that got me a thing or two. So I was wondering what you guys could come up with the best fitting nerfs on the 05 450r

Not sure which nerfs fit the best but i have been putting off getting nerfs as well. Im making my first trip to a MX practice track saturday. The track is nothing too fancy and the jumps are not that big but im sure i will be wishing i had some nerfs by the end of the day. Im probably going to order some at the beggining of next week. STUPID HURTS! Im planning on getting the AC black line or the pro-armor fat pegs.

Not AC's thats for sure.....

I don't know this to be true..........but from all the reading i've done in these forums, AC has to be the worst fitting nerfs out there. I've read far more complaints about AC products fitment, then any other brand.

my ac pro pegs went on no trouble. stay away from pro armor pro pegs, pain in the butt.my opinion though.

What was wrong with the Pro Armor Fat Pegs? I'm thinking about picking a set of those up soon.

yea that is about what I have heard about the ac nerfs, is that you will have to bend them, if they are new. Since I am from canada picking up a used set is a little harder, unless you want to pay duty on them, in which case you are almost as well of to just get the new ones. The riding I do is mostly pretty extreme trail riding, and i play on a track, but never race. We hit some pretty extreme pits etc, and I want to make sure that when i get a set, they provide me with the safety and support that I will need, because the last thing i need is to break my other leg.

P.S. my buddies have all been pooking around that i will be faster than them now since I have a titanium rod and screws in my leg, lol kinda funny.

Thanks for all the help. I think that I will go ahead and order a set of ac's as soon as i can get up and get to my local shop. I still haven't run it by him, he may have some info that can help me out.

Have AC and Pro Armor on 5 of my quads. Had to screw with all three AC nerfs and they move a bit. Bolted up both the Pro Armor nerfs no problem and they are solid, much better mounting system.

I've put AC's on my '05 and '06 and both went on perfect. And I've bashed those suckers into trees and been t-boned by knucklehaeds and never had a crack in them...

the old x-factor pegs are now sold through roll design pro pegs with optional heel guards they are a very hi quality nerf and have a few options for them and also blingstar has nerf, yes they are manufactured through the same company that does AC but have a different design and the look is not to bad I have used the graydon pro-line pegs witch then was x-factor witch is now roll design since 1988 on all my guads and the have allways been a great product, check them out.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v707/jeffgraves/P1290002.jpg

i don't know what happened to you, but the doctor told me i would be up and walking 4 weeks after my accident, he said i would have a noticible limp, but what can u do i broke my lower leg into 5 pieces, and it has only been like 20 days and it can hold its wieght with no pain. i can feel the screws through my skin tho kinda gross

ive owned alot of nerfs

tusk: fitment, good. quality, ok and they're soft (bend easy)

AC 2 sets: fitment, (bending, drilling, and fighting metal) not good at all. quality, good but they still bend pretty easily

pro-armor : fit, great (they lined up perfectly. quality, excellent (you can practilly jump on the edges and they dont bend)

i have heard that x-factors are nice too but i have no experience w/ these

I have dg on my 400ex and 450r and love them. dad has ac on his and they fiited fine. my only complaint was that the netting doesn't go over far enough and it feels like my foot is going to go down through them.:ermm:

my problems with the pro armors were fit and finish(it was a huge hassle to get the things to bolt up right. and strenth, after one half a season of hare scrambles the heelkick welds were breaking, and the mounting tabs to the a arms welds were breaking, other than that i loved them.:(

I have owned DG and AC nerfs and they were a bear to mount up. I bought a set of Pro Armor nerfs and they bolted right up. I like the way they mount up.
