Well I have a 400 with 11:1 , Stage 2 cam , Rev box and the other usual goodies. Along with +2 a arms, Rear wheels spacers, and a sway bar. I'm racing TT and it seems that out of 9 racers if 4 are 450's and the rest are ' everything else ( ex's z 's warrior's raptors ) Their will be 4 450's winning they just have the power for the holeshot and in the straight stretches to beat you. And remember with boring it out, your dumping more money into a machine that's just not as good. Sure you can build a 480 big bore stroker ex running 13.5:1 on alcohol and be quicker than most 450's but the 450's you beat probably just have pipe, jet, filter and rev box. And the number one reason i'm getting rid of my EX is because it's air-cooled and HP=Heat so the YFZ's and the R's radiator is just one more improvement over the EX. So not to bust your b@lls, but I'd say get a 450 , all three have their pro's and con's and similar power, its the style you like. Just my 2 cents worth. '04 EX for sale look @ my signature for details. somewhere around 3700 for it ?? maybe less. Pm for more details. :) :D

I say if you are riding MX and not in A class, you will do fine on a 400. I can hang with and beat 450Rs and YFZ450s off the line in my races and C class in MX. Just my $.02.

I am still on stock bore too!

Ya, if your racing either MX or XC then a 400 should be fine cause its more of the rider in these... But if you will be racing something were your WOT most of the time such as TT then get a 450.

I have a 416ex and I race HS (XC) well worth it. But in the open fields I wish I had a 450. Just depends. I would spend the money on a new 450. I think a stock 450 is better then a almost stock 400.
