I would say out of those 2 go with the 300ex. The 250ex is slow has a semi auto clutch and I believe it's shaft drive, and drum brakes in the rear. The 300ex is elictric start, and so is the 250ex. You would be better of getting an older 250x over both of them. They are lighter then both the 250ex, and 300ex. The 250x is kick start, and you can mode them up to smoke a warrior or 300ex easily. They are also much cheaper. I had 2 of those and I would have taken them over the 300ex. That's just my opinion though.

Ask him why so new. older quads can be very reliable. Look at all my stuff it's all Vintage. It never brakes because I take care of it. Maintenence is the key to holding on to something for ever.

The 250x is a great quad. They were the king of 4-stroke quads back when they first came out (some would say the Warrior was). By the time I switched to quads, the 400ex had been out for several years, so I bought a used 400ex.

I have nothing against vintage iron, but if your dad wants to buy you a newer quad, I would take advantage of it.

I would recommend the 300ex. It is more like your Blaster than the 250ex.

In my neck of the woods, a good used 300ex goes for about $3000-$3300.

I think that you would be hard pressed to find a more reliable quad than one of Honda's ex models. A 300ex would be easy to maintain.

Have fun and let us know if you get a different quad!

get a 400ex. you would be bored with a 300 and there would be no point in buying one. youd love a 400. beter handling, power, suspenison, and everything. its a great quad and is very reliable. you can also get them for cheap.

Both the 300ex and 400ex are good for wheelies.

A used 400ex doesn't cost much more than a used 300ex. I paid $3500 for mine and it still had the tire mold "nubs" on the tires.

I assume that you're young because your dad is involved in your purchase decision. The only potential drawback to the 400ex is that you're probably going to need to excercise some self-control with the throttle. A 400ex isn't lightning fast (in stock form), but it has respectable power. It's smooth power, and it won't do anything unexpected on you, but the quad will rip. Yes, I am being a bit of a ****, but I have a friend that was killed during a "throttle happy" moment on a new bike.

Happy riding

LOL, wheelies depend on the riders. It's balance not power. My kid can ride a wheelie forever on his 300ex.
I'd agree that the 400 may be a better option but the 300ex is a great machine.
I've had a blaster then 300ex's. Red Wing for me please. :D

As for a 250x being faster than a 300ex, why? It's the same motor but with more cc's. Just missing a kick start. The mods are the same for both. :)

hey jack, the 250x is actually a hair faster than a 300ex. its lighter, hasa shorter stroke (revs quicker) and has a 100rpm higher rev limiter;)

go with the 300ex, the 300 will blow away a 250ex with some mods. i have a 250 right now the thing is a tank can take a beating and still wants more its up to you what you want, but i would go with a 300ex.
