ok everyone i have the money for an upgrade. but what i need to know is what you guys are running and if you happy with it. should i go with the 416, 426, 440?? and what compression should i run, if i want to run pump gas we'll say 93 octane. also what cam i was things a stage 2 regardless of what piston i got. i want the honda reliablily after the build if at all possible, but over all i want a nasty quad

Stroke it.:macho

I let you know how mine runs when it's done.

By the sounds of it a 416 w/a stage two cam is the best bang for the buck.

i did a 426 11:1 wiseco with a magnum stg 2 cam. I also go headwork done at the same time but this thing flies prob faster than my old 01' rm125

Just my opinion, but big bores are a pain. I would stick with the lowest bore over you can do if you still want it to be reliable... the 416 is probably the best bang for the buck. A buddy of mine on this site has a 416 and it rips. All big bores have problems though... you just have to build it right. I have heard many stories of the 416 kits doing everything that the other kits do, and so with the 426, 440, etc. Personally, I own a 440EX and haven't had any problems other than my Edelbrock carb needs to be switched out to something else or rebuilt. It has way more power than I need on the bike, but then again it has alot of work in it other than the big bore.

Now as far as everything else, I would go with either JE or Wiseco 11:1. I think that is 10.8:1 with JE, but it is the same thing, just a little more accurate with JE ( As far as I know). Which you choose is up to you, I have never had problems with either of them. For the cam, I would go with a Stage 2 Hotcam is you are on a budget. The rest depends on how much cash you have to dish out.

it all depends man, the 416 with a stage 2 cam would be the most reliable. The 426 would a little less reliable but more power, and the 440 would need bigger head bolts, even tho you should do it to the 426 and might as well on the 416, it never hurts, and a thicker cam chain is needed on the 440. The 416 will rev amazingly fast, and the 440 is a little slower. If your able to ride wide open most of the time, like dunes or draggin, then the 440 would be fatses, if you're rockin a tight woods trail i'd go with the 416. I'm puttin the 416 in my new 400 come winter. And of course all this should be done wiht a high flow filter, rejet, and of course a pipe.

o and 11:1 compression could run on 93. 11.5:1 should be run on a 50-50 mix, and anyhting over 12:1 compression should be run on full race fuel, unless u eant a bad case of detonation

LOL, 9 more cc's..:eek2: WOW!!.. I had a 460 stroker on my old ex till I switched cuz I was so mad with buyin new clutches and replacement pistons.. I would not recommend to stroke it.. I would do.. 426 big bore, stage 2 cams, 12:1 comp. piston.. NOW THAT WILL RIP!!

I'm sure the cam and compression had alot more to do with the performance than the bore diameter;)

Interseting, a 87mm piston with 4mm more stroke will give you a 440.

I would do a 416. and a 11:1. and not stroke. cuz if you go to big you will have to replace the crank after a while.
