OK, I tried a search already....

I'm still thinking I'd like to try building a hybrid with a yz400 motor or a yz426. Is a 400ex or 250r frame better to accomadate all the stuff? I know there will be fabrication, looking for the easier and better route.

I read also that the stock yz400 motor puts out appx. 42 hp. Can anyone comfirm this and does anyone know appx. how much a yz426 puts out stock? Which of the 2 motors is easier to start? I've only ever had a 400ex and never had to "kick" a quad. I don't want a motor that's going to be a pain everytime just getting started or a pain trying to hot start it after I've stalled it.

Thanks,

Glamis

to me a 250r frame would be an excellent choice. seems like there's more room for an engine than the 400 and the frame geometry is much better than the 400. isn't it stronger also?

good point...I have seen alot of 250r frames and they do look a little beefier. I know the 400ex was built off the 250r platform, so a 400ex frame can't be THAT bad.

I would use a yz426 motor and put a 450 exhaust cam in, it will make it easier to start and the 426 motor has more power than a 400 motor, 26cc's is 26 cc's. The 426 motor is a better design too.
