the manuel says 10w-40 so thats what i run. 10w-40 is usally what the companys say to put in any kind of motorcycle or fourwheeler

i just started running spectro platinum synthetic 5w 40. i could tell the difference right away, it doesnt take as long to warm up.

It should be fine as long as your in warm weather.

see the thing is that for cars i know the bearing clearences for oil are designed for a certain oil. so for example if you put a higher wieght than recommended it wont pass throught the bearings as easy, which can cause problems due to parts not properly lubercated. the company says what to go with so thats the best for the type of motor.

My Clymer manual says 10w-40 or 20w-50.I run 20w-50 Castrol GTX,I run the 20-50 because mine is rode HARD everyday(On average I go throught about 3 sets of carrier bearing a year, and 6 clutch cables a year).I am having problem with my clutch slipping but it is a 03 with the stock clutch,so it just needs changed.Other then that I am having no problem with the oil.
