View Full Version : Upgrading 2006 250EX

I just got an '06 250EX, and I was wondering what's a good, cheap way to upgrade. I don't want to burn a huge hole in my pocket.

Also, when it comes to jetting one, is there a "best" way to do this, or even a proper one? I don't know a lot about ATVs, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks a lot.

How much can you spend? Start with a K&N, which is about $40, and take off your airbox lid. If you still want more power you can get a pipe. I have heard that HMF is very good, around $400-$450 I think. Look in the "how to" section for jetting.

How much? I'm not too sure. I'm not "loaded," but I'm not poor either. I checked prices on the HMF exhaust pipes, and they're not too bad. Just a couple hundred. Maybe even naming a few expensive things wouldn't be too bad, I can always check 'em out. It all depends on how much of an upgrade it gives.

On the HMF, I want a loud pipe, with them having different options, which one would be best? And the ones that fit the 250EX, does that count as the '06 model as well?

you should look into the duncan fat boy 4 pipe... thats an awsome pipe that i had.


if u want to change the bore size go to powroll for the true 250 kit... cam ... hi comp piston...

get new tires too!

I don't think I'm going to go with the boring kit. But thank you for the different options I'm able to take. It's greatly appreciated.

They do not make a slip on for the 250. Only a full system. So add $205 to the price of the sport system in that link. They only make the sport model for the 250.

And no offence, but why in the world would you want a loud pipe? All it does is make people mad and give the sport a bad name.

Yeah, I figured all that out once I looked into it, but thanks.

I took the baffle out of my original pipe, and I love the sound of it. *shrugs* I'm not sure where you got how it "gives the sport a bad name"...maybe I'm weird. To me, it's like having a V8 in your truck, with silence. Almost seems wrong.

umm the hmf system i got for my 250ex was 220. and it was a full system.

I concur. Loud pipes suck. They are only good for the track. Otherwise you just piss off your neighbors, and get the cops called on you.

i would call up tom carlson and see if hill make you a shorty if not get a curtis sparks full x-4 exaust neat some asr +2 a-arms +2+4 durablue axle works shocks all around and try some of the new itp gncc tires

Surely there's a reason why that full system is much cheaper. Does it lack something the other one doesn't, or what?

And when it comes to loud...I like it. It's just that. Mine's loud now, a friend of mine has theirs loud, my 2 cousins have theirs loud as well, and I just love the sound of it. I'm not worried about cops, or old people complaining.

its a full system i think i would know thats where i ordered it from. if you want to go ahead and spend the extra 250 bucks for nothing go right ahead im not stopping you.

Okay, keep your panties in a bundle. I was just curious why it's sso much cheaper.
