Just bought my 400 a couple days ago and can't stand that it won't start while in reverse. Has anyone found a way to change this? If I can get my hands on a wiring diagram I think I'd be able to figure it out. Let me know.

i had the same problem.actually got very aggravating when trying to back it off the truck when it was cold or trying to get unstuck in the mud.stall it then you gotta shift up into first then back to reverse.i snipped the wire for it on the plug on the ICM/CDI box.

but looking at the diagram again it looks as if there isa diode that can be disconnected, but where it is,i have no idea.i think you gotta cut the wireing harness open to find it.

take your hood off.locate your CDI box.its a black box with 2 connectors plugged into it.1 connector has 4 wires, the other connector has 2 wires.on the 4 wire connector you will have a gray with black stripe wire.peel the tape back if needed and snip the gray/black wire.leave enough wire just incase you wanna splice it back together at some point.tape the ends of thewires so they wont touch each other.now put the quad in reverse and fire it up.your reverse light will still work also

another thing this does is eliminate the rev limiter in reverse so be carefull as you will have full throttle in reverse.really helps when youre stuck in the mud

my white brother cdi removed the rev limiter in reverse and i can start it in reverse ..... 20mph in reverse is kinda dangerous tho :)

you can unplug the wires but you will loose the neutral/reverse lights unless you cut the rubber connector in half.
