Please help me!! 300 not running right!

I race a 450 but have an old 300 i havent rode in forever.I replaced the cam but after i got it back together it wouldnt run right at all!It will idle fine but will do nothing else. It will run in 1st gear but when you hit the gas it just boggs down and wants to die. I took it back apart and the timing was right. Could someone please help me figure out whats wrong? a while ago when i would try to start it the cdi box would smoke but it doesnt anymore.

Yah we have an old 300 that did that. Check to see if the plug is fowled and make sure the engine is not flooded. If that doesn't fix it pull out the spark arrester.

Take the carb apart and clean it out, more than likely it's gummed up and that's why you can't get past idle. Make sure there's clean gas in it too, if there's the old stuff in it drain that out and clean the tank first.
